Ok so I love wings a lot, so much that when L balked at the idea of paying $18.90 for 6 wings I was like “let’s just try it anyway I really wanna!” Hmm let’s just say I prolly should’ve heeded his advice. To be fair the wings were pretty tasty. We had half of them with the dry rub and the other half with the sticky sauce, all in medium heat (very mild btw could hardly get any hint of 🌶), and both unanimously agreed that it’s a lot better with the sauce. The wings were very juicy and moist, crispy and not greasy at all so that was fab. They weren’t anything special though so I can’t see them justifying the hefty price tag. I’d definitely recommend going for their slider/larger cuts of chicken instead!
I love wings with a vengeance, so seeing this Alitas De Pollo on the menu I knew there was no saying no. Fried habanero chicken wings, tossed in a tangy and addictive mojo sauce, then finished with pickled jalapeños — the flavours and textures in there are beyond stellar. I especially loved how the pickled jalapeños aren't those jarred ones we get, instead a crunchy kinda sweet pickle that mellow down both the spice and the vinegar. So instead of stopping at a bite and acknowledging my bursting tummy, I went ahead and took a piece after another.
Spicy Not-very-buffalo Wings: a medley of fragrant spices compactly and liberally coating the wings, lending to an unexpected crunch — much like breading with spices in place of bread — and a unique, complex flavour. Without the iconic butter-based hot sauce it's clearly no buffalo wings, but the spicy, lean yet juicy wings are no less epic. Something different and definitely one to order when popping by Sarnies for dinner!
First off, they nailed their wings. Mighty crisp on the outside, even when glazed, and so so moist and juicy on the inside, to the extent that a friend commented how its texture was akin to steamed fish — it was THAT moist. The spicy and sweet soy glaze was a nicely done too, adding tons of flavours without causing the skin to get soggy. Execution 👍🏻 taste 👍🏻 satisfaction 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
These Garlic Soy Wings may look like typical bar grub, but my oh my I swear they're the among the bests I've had. Piping hot, crisp as the awesomest packet of Mamee Monster, and most importantly just lightly coated in that addictive sauce. Most bbq/buffalo/saucey wings I've had of late have been drenched in sauce, of which aren't delish to begin with. This came tossed in just the right amount of garlic soy sauce: finger-lickin' perfection.
The first time I tried this local favourite at Seng Kee, I was utterly besotted. Ohsocrispy skin, flavourful and not at all oily, tearing into juicy and surprisingly lean meat. Lotsa places dish out prawn paste chicken that though delicious, can be really salty. Seng Kee's weren't all that salty, managing to nail all the flavours while not leaving me with the need to chug down buckets of water. I'll have these over any café-esque wings anytime.
Lola's is probably most known for these Honey Paprika Wings. Fried to a perfect crisp, then tossed in paprika and drizzled with honey, these chicken drumlets and wings are simple and delicious. Nothing fancy, just fried chicken done well with a good balance of flavours. I especially like how they weren't too oily.
Not usually the kind to use absolutes and superlatives, but I swear the people behind Two Wings must be smoking something I don't know about. Their chicken wings are still piping hot 10 minute after arriving, crispy as hell, and bursting with flavours. Best thing is it isn't too oily! It's so so delicious and maddeningly addictive. If u're on a diet, don't start. Cause once you do there's no stopping.
It looks like a sticky mess - and eats like that too - but this is definitely the good kinda messy. Smokey sweet BBQ sauce generously slathered over crisp fried chicken wings, every bite was a burst of textures and flavours. I especially love the toppings of chilli, fried shallots and spring onions that gave these wings an Asian spin.
Haven't had fried food in such a long time cause it's unhealthy and all, but we couldn't resist the thai chicken wings offered at The BetterField. The wings stayed crisp throughout the meal and made for an excellent side. Absolutely loved the delicious thai chili sauce that generously coated every piece of fried chicken. If I absolutely had to pick a fault, it'd be that the fried skin tasted more like an external crispy wrap, and the wings were super duper fatty.
The Cajun BBQ Wings ($15.80++) were grilled well with a great char on them. Basted in a sweet BBQ sauce, it was a shame the cajun flavour didn't stand out a single bit. The kick would've been interesting.
