One will definitely be for the mee soto/mee rubus at Inspirasi while the other at Jefri The Original Botak Chicken Rice. With a hilarious stall name and the healthier logo sign, there's no stopping me from ordering the Nasi Goreng Ayam ($3.50). The Muslim version is served with deep fried chicken and a tangy chilli sauce. Unfortunately, the rice is not as aromatic as the Chinese's but overall still a good plate of chicken rice.

A relatively new bistro within Bedok Point (or the mall in Bedok with the Chir Chir — less confusion here), serving mostly western fare with pasta, mains such as burgers, beef, fish and poultry with a small selection of desserts available. Served with mesclun salad and atop mash. Quite impressive for a neighborhood mall bistro that serves such dishes for a reasonable price ($15.90 — excludes 10% service charge); the duck confit probably sits well with those who doesn't like their duck to be too briny and salty — this one maintains a bit of savoury flavours but it's more toned-down, yet the meat is juicy and tender with crisp skin on the outside; very delightful. The mash is a little denser but still smooth; much like the ones we grew to love when we were growing up. The accompanying sauce for the mash is also more subtle in flavour; intended to be so for its still quite thick and didn't seem to overpower the flavours of the duck. Mesclun salad was decent as well. Quite a place to visit if you are looking for a convenient yet reasonably-priced eatery to solve your western food cravings with if you have a little cash to spare.

This Bedok Point joint is easily the best place to accommodate a group of friends with varying food preferences. 5 Senses dishes out hearty Western plates that are bound to satisfy, well, all five senses. Salmon lovers, do not be distracted by the rest of the offerings and go straight for the Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon ($14.90). Burppler Jayson Yeo describes it as "a plate of salmon cooked perfectly with the flesh still juicy and moist and the skin seared so crispy". The pastas are pretty good too. What the unassuming Carbonara ($8.90) lacks in colour, it makes up in flavour. What's not to like about perfectly al dente spaghetti served with bacon and a wobbly onsen egg in the centre!

I thought the handmade pasta had a satisfyingly firm bite to it and carried the heat and zing of the garlic chilli sauce quite nicely. The scallops were fresh and cooked well, although I could have done with alot more of the bottarga.

Taste: 3/5

Ever since I had my first Ipoh Hor Fun (the dry version) during my army days in the canteen in my camp (which is as good as the one from Changi Village IMO), I had been intrigued by this dish and quite excited to find this spot nearer to home. Tried out their Fried Chicken Hor Fun and it was quite average at best; despite the sauce being mixed into the Hor Fun, this version was somehow lighter in flavour though the Hor Fun is still slurpy. Perhaps i still prefer my Ipoh Hor Fun to be served in a puddle of gravy where I get to mix it up myself. That being said, the fried chicken pieces were delightful given its crispness, and seemed to be marinated with a light amount of prawn paste where it adds just enough savoury flavour without going too heavy afterwards. PS: This is from their Bukit Panjang Plaza outlet, not the one listed in the geotag.

My parents introduced me to this place and because they are quite picky about food, I looked forward very much to our first visit together. True enough, the dishes we dug into had an air of authenticity thanks to the Thai chef hired by the Thai food-loving Singaporean owner and his Thai wife. More importantly, they were appetising. Here are four of the five dishes we ordered pictured clockwise from top left:

Omelette ($8 with one type of filling, $6 for a plain version) - Fluffy and fragrant, especially with our selected addition of "chye por" (they use the sweet variety of preserved radish here), this was unanimously rated as "very good".

Petai with Prawns ($12 for small) - Besides the petai, capsicum and white onions were included with prawns in this spicy stir-fry. Heavy on the "haebee", the addictive dark sambal was also really good mixed in with the white rice.

Tom Yum Soup with Rice ($6) - The pleasant surprise of sweetness in this typically sour, spicy and hot soup had us relishing every last drop.

Pandan Chicken ($5.80 for 3pcs) - Within each wrapping was superbly tender boneless chicken meat that had been steeped in an unusual curry-ish marinade. Seems simple but really "shiok".

Have you ever had Hor Fun with Sea Cucumber? First time trying it, and I love it!! Anyone wanna give it a try? 😉😋

Since it's my first time there, the smart decision was to go for the Crayfish Seafood Soup, the most expensive item in the menu.

At $12, this does not come cheap but it's oh-so-worth-it! There is definitely a difference in taste from ordering the crayfish version versus the normal seafood soup ($6/$8), as the addition of crayfish and tiger prawns added a level of sweetness and umami-ness in the broth. Besides that, the freshness of ingredients and especially the minced meat which has mushrooms mixed into it makes it an outstanding seafood soup. Pro tip: go for the $12 version and remember to have it with their blended chilli, which has a certain tanginess in the taste.

Located at Block 511 Bedok North Street 3 is a bustling hawker centre with only about 2 rows of stalls, but so much to eat! You definitely need to order the liver/kidney/lean meat mee sua ($4/$5/$6) from Seng Keng Black Chicken Herbal Soup (#01-31/32). A rich and bold soup base that is nourishing, with the liver and lean meat cooked just right! And you can't miss out on the Hokkien Mee ($4/$6/$8) from Yi Ji Fried Hokkien Mee (#01-02) with a 超辣 (super spicy) indicated on their signboard. Each strand of noodles was flavorful as it absorbs the juices from the roast pork, prawns and sotong. The chilli here is full of kick — very spicy, very sour. It leaves a lingering spice on your tastebuds so be careful with that! The Sambal Stingray ($12/$14/$16) from Mei Mei BBQ Fish (#01-36) has a well cooked fish meat and a more-peanut-than-sambal sauce which you may or may not prefer. Lastly, I can hardly resist BBQ wings ($1.40/wing) from Chong Pang (#01-05) as I saw the golden glazed skin. Love dinner tables like this!

Prata bread topped with poached egg, chicken ham, hollandaise sauce and spring onions. YUM!

Pork spare ribs with kicap manis BBQ sauce and Szechuan pepper slaw. So tasty, so tender and it came in 4 big chunks for $26! What a steal, really!

The meat literally melts in your mouth and the well rendered fat just coats your mouth with enough goodness before it gets overwhelming. The unique star fruit pickle creates little burst of crunchy freshness to compliment the richness of the duck. You could sit there and eat this all night long.
