Or at least it’s supposed to be. Had to order the croissant here as they said it’s made with French butter. And it’s truly a wicked pastry to have with coffee. Buttery, chocolaty and flaky - all the qualities of a great croissant.
Absolutely beautiful French toast that tastes as good as it looks. This brioche here was soaked overnight in milk, resulting in a pillowy soft interior. I loved the balance of flavours, just the right amounts of sour, sweet, creamy and eggy.
Here to settle a croissant craving. TBB almost never fails. This Chocolate Au Lait is so damn flaky and chocolaty, it makes me feel so sinful. But aren’t all cravings just sinful?
Still my favourite type of toast - pillowy soft, yet golden crusted, every mouthful was a delight. Best paired with their pandan kaya (not pictured, it is green) and a cup of Cha Yen.
I know it doesn't look like much, but this White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Bread ($4.50 for half a loaf) is just unbelievably yummy.
Imagine sinking your teeth into fluffy soft bread, finding chunks of macadamia nuts inside and savouring on the mild sweetness of the bread... The precious soft bread is protected by a crusty, slightly savory skin.
Ok got to stop writing this review now. Need to get back to the bread.
Pro tip: Exclusively sold at Paragon outlet. MUST BUY when you hit town.
Shitty bagels are like hard, flat and stale. This one at Two Men Bagel House is nothing like that. Lightly crispy, really chewy and topped with interesting toppings (the one I have here is sea salt), it is so fun to chew on, even better when you swallow.
There are many different Bagel 'configurations' to choose from on the menu, but I went straight for sea salt bagel with maple cream cheese ($4.50). Salty, creamy, lightly sweet and filled with walnut bits, it was simply flawless.
TRUFFLE KAYA WITH SEA SALT AND FRENCH BUTTER TOAST (ok not sure of the exact naming of this dish but that's what went into it)!!! Transforming the humble local Kaya toast into a semi-luxurious breakfast dish. And the combination (mildly weird as it may sound) works!!! The smell of truffle complemented the coconut jam perfectly. Accompanied with the french butter... It was just such a delight to have! Thanks Burpple, Crave Singapore and Vanilla Bar and Cafe for the super fun Kaya making workshop!
So Burpple Tastemaker Julius Lim and I headed over to Two Men Bagel House after our already satisfying lunch at WHEAT because the noob (refers to myself) have yet to try Two Men's bagels. And boy, did we finish it in 10 minutes. Here we have cinnamon raisin bagel with maple cream cheese smear ($4.50). I loved the chewiness of the bagel and especially the subtly sweet and nutty maple cream cheese smear. In fact, the combination is pretty perfect. I could have this every breakfast. #BurppleCheapNGood
Have something for cinnamon bread and this one was really nice. Cinnamon bun ($3.80) drenched in gula melaka, it's spiced as much as its sweet - perfect for the morning, best paired with a flat white from Toby's Estate.
A step into this place is like time traveling back 30 years ago. The place is maintained by an old uncle, who wears the same pajamas to work everyday. A hainanese place, the toast comes with orange Kaya toast. The best part? The nutty roasty Kopi.
If you haven't already tried Tong Ah, head down now!! My favourite will always be the crispy one- thin but not too thin bread, sweet but not too sweet kaya, buttery but not too buttery butter (lol).
Comes the best kaya toast and Teh C! The toast was thin, perfectly crisp and comes with the best butter-to-Kaya ratio I've had. Dipped in the wobbly runny eggs on the side and down with a fragrant cup of tea (why can't every franchise serve this quality?), it's no wonder Ya Kun could evolve to the poster boy of Singapore Kaya Toasts. Pro tip: Come here for Kaya toasts only! The store doesn't serve any other fancy breakfast options (i.e: Mee rebus, Mee Siam), so it can focus on its star product.
