Other than their breakfast items, we also ordered the beef burger, which was a tad little disappointing. There's additional charge if you want to add cheese or bacon (what?). The party was tasted rather flour-ish instead of meaty. I guess I should just stick to their breakfast items instead!
The outlet in Bangsar seems to be always packed with people especially on weekends but the one in Midvalley was less packed. Love the concept of full-day breakfast but would be better if they actually have a menu rather than a big-ass blackboard. Anyways, the eggs Benedict was pretty good with the creamy hollandaise and runny yolk. I like that they used back bacon instead of streaky bacon as it's less fatty. The multigrain toast also went well with the overall dish. Thumbs up!
After a little mistake, which we went to the previous cafe (Cafe 55), we managed to search our way to the much raved about 3D coffee art in Penang. Although priced slightly higher than your average cuppa, I must say, the 3D coffee art is not easy to achieve and some even too cute to drink it up. Coffee is pretty decent too and you may request the friendly barista for the 3D art of your choice.
Finally tried the famous Lorong Selamat Char Kuay Teow, and luckily there wasn't much wait/ queue at the stall. Each plate comes with 3 large and fresh prawns and full of 'wok hei'. A note that they are slightly inconsistent with the amount of chillies added, as a few plates was too spicy that we couldn't taste much of the char Kuay Teow, while some plates with less or specifically ordered without chillies tasted way better.
Said to be the longest cafe in Penang, the unique cafe is situated in the heart of old Georgetown and should not be missed if you're in town. Be ready to be spoilt by choices of cakes at China House, we simply couldn't make up our mind on which cake to choose. We finally settled for Tiramisu cake, chocolate ganache tart and salted caramel cheesecake, which all were lovely. They are also using coffee beans sourced from Papa Palheta, so you not only get amazing cakes but also great coffee.
Located at Bangsar, it's a great hangout for dessert after dinner. They have a good selection of ice cream flavors like durian, earl honey, valhorna chocolate. Paired with the soft and fluffy waffles, it's definitely a crowd pleaser!
Came here for the cheesecake, but alas, we were a little late and most cakes were sold out. So we tried their bread & butter pudding and lemon tart which both tasted amazing. The bread and butter pudding was so soft, it almost tasted like custard in texture. The pastry of the lemon tart was very fragrant of butter, and just the right balance of tanginess and sweetness. Will definitely be back to try their cakes next time!
Though not a fan of barbecue roast pork, I must admit that the one here is pretty good. Some parts may be a little too fat for me, but the boys loved it so much that they ordered 2 additional portions. Do try their melt in your mouth roast pork, paired with their signature Hakka noodles, if you're in town!
Thanks to the Internet, I stumbled into Peter's pork noodles, which has relocated after Little India was renovated. And boy, does it taste the same like it did 10 years ago? The pork soup was sweet and tastes even better with the egg, with generous amount of minced and sliced pork. Definitely a gem and I'm glad it's still around!
It's a pity that they don't have a wide selection of pizzas at ABC because I really like the crispy yet slightly chewy thin crust pizzas here. The rendition of Hawaiian pizza here is a great comfort food and will definitely not go wrong with any crowd.
Tender duck breast topped with a good sized of foie gras. The duck lacked slightly in taste but the foie gras made up for it. Overall, a pretty decent dish but paled slightly in comparison to the other dishes we ordered.
Put truffle on anything and I'm most likely to order it but, pan-seared scallops with truffle? Hmm... That's a no- brainer. A lighter dish compared to the lamb rack, but doesn't cut on taste. The scallops were of good size and so juicy and succulent. I love the fact that they used angel hair pasta rather than spaghetti. Definitely a dish I would order again, if I come back.
