Definitely a favourite from this place. The chicken is really tender and the pasta is well-cooked with the sauce, complementing the chicken. It was so filling that I had the second half brought home as takeaway and I ate it as dinner the next day.
This is another dish I would eat again. The pineapple rice has that comfortable flavor of the usual pineapple rice, without overdoing the pineapple's sweetness. The rice was also not too dry or oily, and it came with even more eggs and prawns, which I definitely loved.
The chicken was surprisingly tender, despite it's burnt edges. I could put my spoon through it and it split very smoothly. The meat was also a very fair shade of brown and was very smooth, which is quite different from what I've tried before. Personally, though, I found it too salty.
Tried Ah Loy Thai's signature dish today: pad Thai (this was it half-finished). I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The noodles were not too oily and yet not too dry, and had an added tint of sweetness that made me want to gobble it all up. All (yes, all) the prawns were also very juicy and succulent, and the lightly fried eggs were a nice addition, taste and texture-wise.
So today I tried the Norwegian Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce at Mariner's Corner Restaurant & Steakhouse, at the Maritime House. For $19.90, it came with the salmon, a scoop of potatoes, and some assorted vegetables. The skin was very crispy and the salmon itself was very soft and true to its taste. Should check out if you like salmon. The meal was very filling, I even had to takeaway my side dish of fries because I couldn't finish it! The other dishes and sides I tried were also very nice - their garlic bread was so crispy you could hear it, but the inside was soft and flavorful. The oxtail stew, made with a recipe unique to the Hainanese family behind this restaurant, had very tender, soft meat, with a thick gravy. The ambience was very cruise-ship-restaurant-esque, with their windows covered with curtains, the lighting dim and all the furniture adding to the atmosphere. Recommended to stop by if you're in the area.
