Launched just yesterday at Apiary is The Sesame Treat; a interesting tasting platter which involves a scoop of White Sesame Ice-Cream (which is exclusively available to The Sesame Treat), Black Sesame Ice-Cream, Toasted Sesame Seeds, Japanese Sea Salt and Sesame Oil. The dish also comes with a set of instructions on a card which recommends the best way to enjoy the tasting platter as well on the side.

Following the instructions written on the card, one would first get a taste of both scoops of ice-cream before pouring in the Toasted Sesame Seeds, Japanese Sea Salt and then the Sesame Oil to enjoy the tasting platter with the various flavour combinations. While the toasted Sesame Seeds helped to enhance the already and fragrant and roasty flavours of White Sesame and Black Sesame respectively, the addition of Japanese Sea Salt helps to add a unami flavour to both scoops of ice-cream which were nothing short of Apiary's smooth and creamy consistency for their ice-creams. The addition of Sesame Oil was the most interesting for me — while it enhances the creaminess of the White Sesame Ice-Cream, it adds a even stronger aroma to the Black Sesame Ice-Cream. Pretty interesting, especially given it's probably the first time I have come across an ice-cream tasting platter locally.

Not only will you get fresh sashimi moriwase, there will be an array of artisan sushi and aburi nigari, all prepared in front of you at the sushi bar.

Although the KoKo Twisto (half froyo, half soft serve 🌪) looked more enticing, my weakness for frozen yoghurt won. I like super tangy froyo, so while this isn't that sour (personal preference), the very good toppings more than made up for it, especially the KoKoCrunch (rice puffs and dried fruits), honey butter almonds, dehydrated Jeju tangerines and strawberries. 👌🏼 Bonus points for the added edible activated charcoal in the froyo.

I really liked the robust Jeju Green Tea Latte and Panda Milk Tea too! Alternatively, you can opt for the refreshing ChiaChaCha made with 100% coconut water and chia seeds if you're looking for something healthier. 🌴

The Matcha Project had recently launched their Matcha soft-serve; they do have a second flavour available as well though it's currently on rotation.

The soft-serve is pretty smooth and rich in flavour; one could easily taste the aroma of the matcha used with its distinct and tastefully bitter flavour though the overall flavour is still pretty manageable without a sharp, lingering aftertaste. Should hit the matcha lovers pretty well. Opted for an additional topping of white chocolate pearls that adds a light hint of sweetness with a crunch.

It's hard not to walk past Chateraise and simply ignoring it after knowing that they have crazily good yet cheap ice-creams. This only costs $1.20 — the exterior Kuromitsu adds a bit of sweetness to the nutty flavours of Kinako powder while fused with milk flavored ice-cream that has chewy Mochi pieces inside. So cheap and so good, I wouldn't mind having two ... even at one go!

Tsubu Parfait $7.80 from @hvalawafflebar, matcha softserve topped with toasted buckwheat puffs, gula Melaka sago, grilled dango and senbei. I'd suggest adding $3 more to get that addictive puffle to level up your Parfait.

The matcha deliver a smooth taste with a slight bitterness and the buckwheat puffs gave an additional crunch. On the other hand, the gula Melaka sago lost it's sweetness to the intense matcha soft serve. 🍵🍦Also tried the matcha soba flavoured soft serve, interestingly good.

This funky and playfully named ice-cream flavour takes inspiration from the Minions from Despicable Me — their love for bananas translates into this Banana Ice-Cream that comes speckled with crunchy walnuts and chewy brownies which gives the smooth and creamy ice-cream a title bit of dimensions in terms of texture. It's surprisingly not overly sweet, and it's actually one of the flavours you should order if you like your ice-cream to come loaded with other condiments.

Affordable soft serves don't only just exist in fast food joints, and there is a choice of two other flavours apart from Vanilla here. These two just costs $2 each, and both are actually very satisfying — Avocado is smooth, creamy and subtle with its buttery flavours creating a very light touch that is refreshing without leaving you on an unnecessary sugar rush. Rock Melon is my favourite however — it carries the fruit's natural sweetness without an onslaught of sugar and is also pretty smooth, creamy and refreshing. Both appeals to their own crowd, but it is really a hidden find considering the quality of their soft serve and how non-descript this stall is being situated in a row of very authentic Chinese eateries — it certainly is one place you would not expect to find here.

An absolute delight! Subtle sesame flavour from the fluffy (opt for crispy if you'd like) black sesame waffles instead of the old-fashioned tasteless charcoal. Garnished with roasted sesame for more nutty fragrance! Drizzled with miso caramel, and opted for green tea ice cream. For people who aren't that big on sweet desserts this is a pretty good option.

How does the pairing of 2 kings sounds to you? Thai milk tea and coconut! It's quite a delightful combination I would say. Thai milk tea flavored coconut soft serve, brimming with subtle Thai milk tea flavor and sweet coconut taste at the back. Served with slices of coconut flesh that was so smooth, fresh and crunchy. Refreshing dessert after a meal.

These guys are popular for their innovative flavours (think Salted Egg Yolk and Tau Huay You Tiao), and even more popular for their various student and rainy day discounts!

A coconut soft serve set costs $4.90 and it comes with ice cream with 3⃣ normal toppings in a coconut husk and a small cup of fresh coconut juice. •

Normal toppings range from chendol to sweet corn and grass jelly. If you prefer something special, opt for premium toppings like mango and red ruby for an additional 30 cents. •

The ice cream here is made fresh daily without stabilizers and preservatives.
