Tarte by Cheryl Koh is a new patisserie by the Les Amis group, located next to Caveau at Shaw Centre. Specialising in artisanal tarts and carolines (mini eclairs) for takeaway, they have plans to offer more items and desserts in the pipeline. Tarte uses quality ingredients such as Italian hazelnuts and pistachios, and offers its signature tarts in two sizes: small ($8 - $9) and regular ($30 - $34). Go for the Pistachio Tart ($9) with toasted pistachios and pistachio filling, or the Mango Tart with Indian Alphonso Mango ($8)!

Tarte by Cheryl Koh, a new and highly anticipated takeaway retail pastry concept by award-winning Les Amis Group features limited quantities of artisanal tarts baked from scratch every morning with only the best sourced ingredients.

I'm sinking my teeth into the Cacao Barry tart with Origine Rare Venezula 72% dark chocolate, so dense and perfectly indulging for the chocoholics. Was a little bummed to hear that their Carolines were not ready, but I'll come back for more.

By the good people behind Montana Brew Bar, Nookie Yogurt is a home-grown froyo place that manages to incorporate unique flavours so you get more than just the usual froyo toppings. Some of the more popular and interesting flavours you should check out include the Red Velvet (red velvet crumbs, strawberries, granola and chocolate sauce), Mango Sticky Rice (mango and kiwi, coconut cream, mango passion fruit spheres and mochi), and Matcha Black Sesame (black sesame crumble, watermelon, kiwi, mango passion fruit spheres and matcha sauce). All parfaits are $6.90, but you can customise your own if you like.

FatCat has been making waves in the local creamery scene with their Gourmet Waffle: charcoal waffle with salted egg yolk sauce that seems to go with just about everything, and their popular Butter Beer Ice Cream. The buttermilk waffles here are crisp, light and airy. The Butter Beer Ice Cream will delight those who love beer, with its strong flavour. If you're not a fan of beer, opt for Watermelon Soju or Hay & Honey! They also do interesting plated desserts like the Banana Nutella (pictured) and Tarte Au Citron (brandied Cherry Sorbet, cherry gel, crumble, laksa leaf meringue, lemon curd and yogurt gel) that vary daily, with limited servings.

Who cares if it's cold and rainy outside? It's always a good idea to indulge in some bingsu!

If you've tried the ones at Nunsongyee, I dare say you'll find the bingsu at O'ma Spoon even more satisfactory. The texture of the ultra-finely shaven "snow" at both Korean dessert cafes are comparable, but the flavour of O'ma Spoon's has a fuller, richer taste because it's made with 100% PURE MILK, imported from Australia, no less. This is probably also the reason why the ice here doesn't melt as quickly as at Nunsongyee.

I had the privilege of sampling this mammoth bingsu, which has a hidden horizontal layer of crushed chocolate cookie crumble packed across the middle of the mountain of milky snow, as well as patted around the sides. Adding further embellishment are slices of banana drizzled with chocolate sauce, whipped cream studded with Korea-imported brownies, chopped peanuts, almond flakes, and finally a scoop of New Zealand-imported chocolate ice cream.

Sounds like a lot? It is.
A lot of edible pleasure, that is.

Thick toast comes served in the presentation pictured, then dissected by the staff carefully after you are done with all the photo-taking by moving the top layer down revealing the insides and it is ready to eat after smothering all the sauces and ice-cream before eating. This version comes with Matcha sauce and Vanilla Ice-Cream atop with a macaron shell for aesthetics. Matcha sauce was of the right proportion of bitter and sweet for the dessert and the whole combination worked really well with the light sweet flavours of the honey toast. The only gripe was the macaron shell that seemed a little bit too soft that it was rather limp.

My favourite is their mango flavour but nipping at its heels in a close second is this chocolate banana version. The ripe banana in the centre is cushioned by a light chocolate-y cream and sits atop a chocolate sponge. Enveloping all of that is the delicate, eggy soft crepe. How can I not want to get my grubby paws on this too? 😊

Located next to Jewel Cafe + Bar on Rangoon Road, yogurt joint The Cold Pantry has recently revamped their menu. They now offer both yogurt and soft serve options, as well as a variety of quirky flavoured speciality waffles. If you're in the mood for something savoury, go for the mildly spicy Mexican Nachos or the chicken Bak Kua Meltz waffles (both $10). For those with a sweet tooth, go for the Kaya Toast or Sea-salt Caramel waffles (both $8), or go big with the signature Chocolate Root Beer waffle with charcoal vanilla ice cream and drizzled with homemade root beer sauce ($12.50) — it's a sinful treat you won't regret having!

It appears that there is an opening of a new Korean dessert joint every few weeks, and joining Banana Tree this month is O'ma Spoon, situated on the fourth floor of Marina Square. O'ma Spoon offers a variety of milk-based bingsus in both single and 2-people portions as well as a few other items such as their Injeolmi Toast, with the price ranging from $4.80 to $22.80. Go for their Strawberry and Green Tea Bingsus for a cooling, melt-in-your-mouth treat.

Today, I am happy because it's NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY DAY and such a day, it is impossible to be a grumps. If you know me, you'd know that peanut butter is one of five foods that I absolutely cannot resist.

I must admit rather guiltily that I forgot one of the ice cream flavours here. I know there's dark chocolate and peanut butter & jelly, but I cannot for the life of me recall what the third one is.

But anyway, I do think the waffles here are among the best in Singapore, and their ice creams are quite dope as well. Too bad it's so out of the way for me to travel to!

L❤️VE is in the air today, more so than any other day (as marketeers would like to have us believe). Don't forget to throw something sweet into your celebratory plans, like this chocolate waffle with salted caramel rivulets trickling down its sides and caramelised bananas and vanilla bean ice cream perched on top.

Here's a VDay shout-out to 🐒🐷🐘 – the ones with whom I share our one true love: FOOD. So glad we (as in the foodie gang) found each other, you are more than just foodie friends to me 😘.

Cuteness overload with my character macarons from #bonheurpatisserie. Not only do they look good, they taste good too! At only $4.50 per piece 😋
