Japanese Cuisine & Ramen
Located on the first floor of Pacific Plaza, this 18-seater ramen joint is Tsuta's first international outlet outside of Japan. There are only two soup variations on the menu of the world's only Michelin-starred ramen restaurant — shio (salt) or shoyu (soy sauce). Both soup bases stem from a chicken stock boiled with vegetables, clams and seafood for additional depth — think of it as soul-warming chicken noodle soup. Go for the crowd favourite Char Siu Ajitama Shoyu Soba ($22.80) that comes with the full works — four slices of char siu, flavoured egg, bamboo shoot and leek. The Tsuta rendition gets an unexpected umami boost from the scoop of truffle pureed in truffle oil. Otherwise, shio purists will enjoy tucking into the Char Siu Ajitama Shio Soba ($22.80). It comes with the same toppings, except that the the truffle is replaced by green olives in truffle oil.

Helmed by Chefs Masaaki and Rintaro, here is one of their savoury signatures, Wagyu Truffle Don $38. This bowl of goodness comprises of josper grilled wagyu beef, onsen egg on rice and then topped with fresh truffle slices. 🍱
Lazing Sunday away and kudos to @deliveroo_sg, we had a fiery lunch from Monster Curry. Tried the Cheese Pork Katsu Curry (2 Flame) $15 whereby you can choose the level of spiciness. 2 flame is bearable while 3 is Shiok but spicy. 😝
The sixth week of 'Because You Deserve The Best (#BYDTB) campaign is Japanese cuisine, where you can enjoy set meals for 2 or 4 pax at $25 and $45 respectively from selected Japanese restaurants. (MOF, Dolce Tokyo, Haru Haru etc.) These deals will be available during the Japanese week from 25th - 31st July 2016. #BurppleROO
If you're a fan of tendon, a straightforward Japanese dish of tempura on a bowl of rice, here's another restaurant to satisfy your craving! Located within Eat@Seven in Suntec City, Tempura Kohaku is a great spot for an intimate catch up over delicious Japanese food, at least until the crowd finds out about this place. The menu is concise, with only four tendon options. The Kohaku Tendon ($15) that comes with prawns, chicken and vegetable tempura is a safe order, but if you like your spice, you must have the Kohaku Tendon Spicy Flavour ($15). It is essentially the same bowl, but with an unbelievably tasty, mildly burning spicy sauce drizzled on. While there is no oozy, fried onsen egg like the tendon at Ginza Tendon Itsuki, the crisp, light-as-air batter and spicy sauce certainly sets itself apart! For ravenous eaters, there's a Tendon Set (from $18.50) that comes with a bowl of udon on the side and preserved vegetables.

Free flow of fresh seafood that are air flown in straight from Tsukiji and Sapporo sounds like an ideal Japanese dining experience. 🇯🇵 •

The hakata ramen noodles are serve chilled and tossed with truffle oil, then topped with shaved black truffle, slices of torched char shu and egg. This bowl of goodness brings ramen to a whole new level and interestingly I love the overall combination, while some may find the truffle aroma overwhelming. Review on the web, link in bio.
Shogayaki Pork $15.90
Seared Barramundi Fillet $16.90
Glazed Chicken Teriyaki $14.90
Would prefer my donburi to be topped with an onsen egg though. And I'll personally go ahead with the Shogayaki pork, the barramundi sounds fishy. I mean taste fishy for me. 🐟
.
A fusion take on the Japanese staple donburi, shambles of seafood – prawn, squid, scallop – are tossed in zesty lemon sauce, teased with the slightest hint of chili; more tang than spice.
Available now till May 12 is a special four course menu [$38] by Chef Nakano Hiromi at Sen of Japan.

One of their brunch item is this Gyu & Tama ($17). This 24-hour braised beef cheek is intensely soft and tender, pair with a side of perfectly scrambled eggs. 😛
Signature Kanshoku Ramen $14.90
Black Garlic Ramen $14.90
Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen $14.90
Flaming Hot Tonkotsu Ramen $14.90
Shoyu Ramen $14.90
Truffle Ramen $16.90
I personally love the black garlic and truffle ramen. If you prefer something light on your palate, the signature Kanshoku ramen will do 🍜
The usually wriggly eel completely lays limp in sweet, luscious surrender here, whilst elsewhere the various crunchy elements each bring something different to the table - the beets bring a veggie wetness, the pumpkins a hearty starchiness and the beansprouts a peasantly basic chewiness. 4/5
Happy to hear that they opened one outlet near my office, so rushed there right away at lunch time. Tremendously enjoyed the Foie Gras Truffle Yakiniku, super yummy! 😍😋😋 Pan seared foie gras drenched in amazing black garlic brown butter, tender-melt-in-your-mouth US black angus short ribs drizzled with truffle soy and onsen egg in the middle. The truffle soy sauce is a bit too mild for me, perhaps not many people like strong tastes (in many things) as i do. But apart from that, it's an excellent mix of flavours and tastes all together. It is $19 for lunch (u.p. $23) and i took the lunch set additional $2 for miso soup, mixed green salad and green tea. Highly recommended! Any recommendations for similar donburi are most welcome.
