Loved the truffle aroma combined with the shoyu broth. My number 2 ramen in Singapore right now.
In my opinion, Miharu serves the best ramen in Singapore. They've been so consistent since I've discovered them when they were still at Robertson Quay. The broth is always served pipping hot, and the ramen in its springy perfection. I really appreciate the basic things done well. I highly recommend #2 (Miso) & #13 (Tonkotsu Shio hybrid). If you need something more hot weather friendly, you can always go for their Tsukemen!
Xin Hao Ramen serves value for money ramen ranging from Shoyu, Shio to Miso ramen. Each order comes with a choice of pork belly or grilled meat, fried enoki mushrooms and hanjuku egg. I feel the broth is not quite as good as what the Japanese joints offer, but the generous portions of juicy meat well makes up for it. Pro-tip: if you can't decide between pork belly or the grilled meat, you ask for a mix of both ;)
It really feels good digging in to a good bowl ramen that goes for $10. The broth is well flavored with a good spicy kick. The ramen was thick and yellow, fitting for the local taste. Perfect for a quick satisfying lunch. Pro-tip: order the takeaway and enjoy it at the food court next door and save the 10% service charge.
I have a thing for springy yellow ramen so this dish worked well for me. Enjoyed the sesame and miso base which blends well with the mince pork.
Just returned from Japan, and what a good time to review a bowl of ramen after understanding what's humanly possible. It's all about the details. They typically serve ramen in pipping hot broth, generous portions of noodles and the noodles are not over cooked or soft (unless you asked for it). I like that the broth at Menya Takeuchi is rich, collagen-ish, creamy and flavorful. I prefer their soup to be hotter, noodles less cooked and noodle servings can be bigger. Skip the special option unless you really want the extra crab(?) balls and more chicken.
Very enjoyable! The kimchi broth is bright with sour notes and it's absolutely surprisingly delicious! Healthy servings of chicken. Makes the perfect choice for a power lunch. Vintage Japanese graphic art decor. Will be back again!
Brand new ramen place at Emporium Shokukhin. Interesting concept where they pay your bill immediately after you order and they serve your ramen by lifting up the blinds at the side of the table (it's connected to the kitchen). Style of ramen is similar to those served at Marutama.
Get this if you enjoy a garlicky stock! It's a good alternative to my usual pick 13.
Always a delight. Order the 'hard' noodles. Won't go wrong!
Kara-Uma Ramen - Springy noodles soaked in chilli oil laden pork flavoured shoyu broth and a slice of thick-cut grilled chashu. Rich and bursting with umami goodness! I love it!
The level of spiciness was just right for me but if you can't take spicy food, go for their non-spicy ramen. Skip the egg though. Save your $2 and calories on an egg with overcooked yolk.
One of the easiest places to grab a good bowl especially now with 5 outlets. Always go for the 'hard' noodles to give the best bite sensation.
