Asian Delights
This comes with half portions of each dish, but honestly, it was filling enough to feed me for two meals. The dishes packed a punch with their spicy flavour and we were thankful for the cold drink on the side to provide some respite. #burpple
A dish with potential that unfortunately did not quite live up to it. Roasted bone marrow, caramelized Kung Pao jus and roasted nuts. The key question was, where was the marrow?? Perhaps it was my first time and I wasn't sure what to expect, but we pretty much felt like we were just scraping bone, with a teeny bit gelatinous substance that was nary sufficient to spread over one slice of the accompanying grilled country bread.
The menu at Little Bastard is succinct, with a list of just 10 dishes to choose from. Dishes are interesting though, with an Asian fusion element in each, and one of our favourites was the Kaeng Phet Mu ($24). Bouncy, tender 14hr sous vide Iberico pork collar with a Thai red curry thick gravy on the side. The flavours of the curry were on point, and were deliciously robust. We proceeded to mop the plate clean with bread even after we'd gobbled up the meat.
Their Chinese-fusion style is present in each item, such as this Salmon Yusheng bowl ($20). I would say that it looked quite the part, with salmon sashimi cubes, complete with shredded carrot, radish and those addictive crackers. Unfortunately I felt that the ingredients were rather dry on top of the Japanese rice, and it was strange that flavours emerged only when I was reaching the bottom of my bowl, where I also discovered a burst onsen egg whose presence I didn't know of till the end. I would recommend going with the Black Pepper Wagyu Bowl ($22), which featured juicy, tasty chunks of beef. #burpple
The meat was succulent and tender, sandwiched between juicy layers of fat that was not healthy at all, but we'd gladly surrender our diets for. The stewed mandarin oranges exploded with a tangy sweetness that complemented the sticky, thick coating on the ribs. #burpple #burpproved
Very generous portion of pork slices roasted in a tasty marinade, buried in rice noodles tossed in fish sauce and topped with a mix of veggies, peanuts and crispy shallots. We would've liked it to be served hot though...it was served really quickly so I'm kinda wondering if it was all pre-made. It was a filling and yummy bowl nonetheless! #burpple
Turned out to be a stellar experience with an exquisite 5 course that teased and pampered our palate, culminating in this amazing dessert for the finale. More on the blog (link in bio)! #burpple #restaurantweek #dessert
The elements came together in complementary harmony and tantalized our tastebuds for the meal ahead. #restaurantweek #burpple
Really liked the 'Bak Chor' Foie Gras pasta ($18) which was tagliatelle tossed with a fragrant minced pork stew, topped with pork belly and a generous slab of #foiegras. For those who like some kick in their food, do try the Prawn and 'Hae Bi Hiam' pasta ($17) which we enjoyed too! #burpple #burpplexchope
Happy Sunday! ☀️ #burpple #brunch #breakfast
Who knew that a dish that looks so simple could taste so good?! And it gets better with every mouthful, as the beehoon soaks yup the goodness of the seafood broth. Do not forget the tangy/spicy chilli on the side for that extra boost!
