I must say that the food in Okinawa is a pleasant surprise. With mixed Chinese, US and Japanese culture, we had a satisfying fill of unique and delicious food that wasn’t disappointing.

Stewed Agu pork belly (Rafute) is one good example. While not as tender as Chinese Dong Po meat and we had a challenging time tearing the meat, it wins in the stewed sauce mixed with the fatty skin.

Another pleasant surprise comes from the mozoku seaweed, eaten Somen style. Dip into their unique sauce, it was a really delish delight.

Taco rice (last photo) was the one that we had mixed reactions for. Definitely US/Mexican influenced, the rice seems...confusing at best.

Still a good meal!

One of the must try food in Okinawa, with sea urchin, sea grapes, grated yam and roe, topped off with special vinegar, makes a real unique savory seafood treat.

The side dishes aren’t any lesser, with Mozoku Tempura (Okinawa seaweed pancake) and buttered grilled garlic fish vying with the main treat for the most satisfying Okinawa local treat.

Top off with umibodo ice cream. Bliss 😌

Very decent food and price, and though communication was a challenge with other staff, we managed to chat with the chef.

Chef: Singapore, drink drive, okay?
Me holding and drinking beer: Not okay.
Chef stares at me: You driving?
Mich: Little bit, okay (all burst into laughter)
Chef: Few nights ago, two Singaporeans, buy Awamori (points to a huge bottle), drink finish, want order more. I say no more. They laugh and drive away.

Bad reputation for us...

Been a while since the last visit, the thick niboshi broth is definitely a refreshing delightful change from the usual tonkotsu taste. Pity the place is pretty obscure (and the online reviews pointed to a wrong location), else this place would have been a killer...

Selection of food and sake is good, especially when a quick fix is needed for destress and recharge. There's even Maguro and Wagyu here!
