Best ondeh ondeh cake ever with chunks of gula melaka and soft sponge. Cream very fresh and fragrant with coconut. $8 per slice. Slice humongous - this was one third of a single slice. Perfect with a cup of mint tea

💸: $6

💬: I wanted to like this soso bad but the sweetness was an overkill and there was a chemical-like artificial scent to the pandan cake layers 😭😭😭 but i did q lje the fact that some of the gula melaka was crunchy and that gave it alternating textures

Seasonal!!

Their cempedak is intense. It's half as strong as durian aroma lol, probably don't open it in bus. I'm guessing they fermented it a bit or sth, anyway as a cempedak lover this checked all the boxes!

Gonna try their cempedak cake next time when it's in season(not available currently)

I love that they use wtv is in season, previously the durian used was D24 but this time it's MSW, really pungent, rather sweet, with a very slight kueh-like sticky finish. A good durian cake and q a large slice

The strong pandan flavour hits you immediately as u take the first bite, as it is slowly taken over by the gula melaka, some bits still not melted that provides the crumbly crunch. Very sweet and very generous portion, but undeniably good. Probably best to share, even if just to order another slice of their many interesting flavours.

Hands down the best tasted to-date. The gula melaka bits literally take the cake - it made the cake really sweet (perhaps too sweet for some) and really sinful!

[Halal] For pretty ordinary-looking cupcakes, Julie's Bakes sure hit the right notes with the little details in their baked goods here. Regardless of flavour, the cupcakes were far from sickly-sweet and toned down to a mild honeyed profile – a testament to endless rounds of recipe-refining, I’m sure.

Even when flavours like Ondeh-Ondeh and Butterscotch Crème Brulee make it very easy for them to stride too far in terms of sweetness, they manage to cleverly cut down on the sweetness. And as a result, they allow one who professes to walking the Earth without a sweet tooth to be able to delight in at least a bite, and hopefully enjoy with rapt.

The red velvet comes in top here. This crimson classic is given a twist in the form of a surprise Nutella ganache centre. Some of the perceived traits of a cloud – fluffy, soft, light, moist – is what you can expect of this flavour. It’s also truly worth mentioning that the cupcakes were not tainted with the discomforting slippery texture of fat. Only they and Fluff Bakery have managed to nail this.

Despite that however, there is only one shortcoming – and that rests in how the flavours are indeed enjoyable in the humblest way, but also that they are too ‘safe’. Hence, taking risks and producing experimental flavours is the remedy. It will get them far, I’m sure. But if they don’t, I will be absolutely fine with having another one of their Red Velvet cupcakes. (7.5/10)

An afternoon of indulgences!! That Chendol Cake from Julie Bakes was oh so sinfully good! A soft, fine cake layered with cream and mashed red beans, and drizzled in coconut milk and gula melaka!! 😍😍😍

Singapore’s local sweetest delight:
This is probably one of the best Ondeh Ondeh Cake I have ever tasted, the fluffy and moist pandan cake blends well with the crunchiness and sweetness of gula melaka coconut in between its layers. The cream is not too sweet and thick, which gives well-balanced pandan and gula melaka flavours. Everything is so yummy and well Balance, and best news is it’s LOW FAT! .

Started as a home business, her humble bakery now offers some tasty desserts with familiar tastes. In fact, Julie’s bakery is centred on her Kueh-inspired cupcakes with some cake alternatives, all freshly baked daily.
We were immediately attracted to this Lopez cake which was a beautiful harmony of dense cake with Lopez kueh layers within. Coated with fresh coconut and drizzled with Gula Melaka, it distinctly shouted Kueh while enjoyed as a cake. Totally loved it.
Next to it was an Ondeh Ondeh cupcake, another familiar local flavour. The Pandan cupcake was moist and pleasantly light, stuffed with liquid palm sugar infused coconut just like the original thing. The whole thing was such a refreshing twist on the usual cupcakes. They even had the cake version on this.
Sounds good? B'cos they really tasted as good and you should go check them out, whether you are a fan of cake or Kueh. We are both and glad we discover them.
