finally tried this much raved about ramen and thankfully there was no queue when i went (around 1130)😊 broth was very savoury and salty as expected. overall really good for the price (890¥ excluding egg) but nothing extremely special though! also!! the chilli was a bit disappointing as i got the 2x thinking it wld be not bad but rly wasnt spicy :-( 💯💯would eat again though!!
The noodles came pretty quickly once we were seated (the queue was rlly long btw). The soup was fragrant and noodles were good. But I had expected my onsen egg to be cracked... instead of coming shelled (yuh, cause i spent 5 mins trying to peel it uglily instead). Noodles would beat Ippudo, but I’d prefer Ippudo’s soup and ordering system.
Ordering for Ichiran starts from the queue. You are given a paper to circle, but here’s the catch, you gotta order the same thing at the “vending machine” too, if not, it’ll be a wrong order. I didnt get to order the correct things because of the pressing crowd behind me (super pressurizing okay cause everyone is tired of queuing and grumpy). Thank goodness I had extra order sheet for me to reorder. Would have appreciated if the staff standing at the vending machine offered more help.
Everyone seems to love Ichiran, myself included. Each of our trips to Tokyo and Osaka will include a visit to Ichiran, which is usually also conveniently located.
🔸
I'll also make sure I include a little of the red spicy mix, just a little, to add some excitement but without distracting from that creamy rich tonkotsu broth. My wife don't usually take ramen, but she said there's three ramen she will eat - Marutama, Brothers Ramen and Ichiran, and out of which her favorite is Ichiran.
🔸
The queue looked like madness, but thankfully for the Japanese efficiency, we got our seats in 20 mins. Prices seems higher than I remember it to be, but I'll still come back when I'm in Japan again.
A unique experience as you order via the vending machine before entering an empty cubical shown on-screen. Pass the order coupon to the staff via a small opening and a bowl of ramen will soon appear after 5-10min wait.
Rich milky Tonkotsu soup with thin white noodles, slices of char siew, green/white onions and kikurage mushroom. Their special red sauce is what make it stand out too. This piping hot bowl of ramen taste even more shiok after waiting in the cold!
🍜 smooth rich tonkotsu broth, thin hakata noodles and the Ichiran red pepper sauce makes for a good, hearty meal as it gets colder by the hour. Basically, purchase your ramen through the vending machine, head to your seats, fill up the customisation chit, hand it over and waaaaaait. Pretty lucky there wasn't even a queue when we went but was snaking when we left.
🥢 Tried so many ramen shops in japan but Ichiran is still the best!
