Char Siew Pau - The filling was slightly sticky, and the char siew sauce was more sweet than salty. It had a slightly thinner pau skin.

There's usually a little queue on weekend mornings for their quality handmade paus. What I like about Home-make Pau Specialist - a blink and you'll miss it stall in a coffee shop nestled deep within sleepy Dakota estate - is that all their paus are freshly handmade and steamed right before your eyes. Sure, it’s a little small for 70 cents, but the succulent and moist char siew held within the soft and fluffy bun is big on taste.

Finally, a fan choy that isn’t a flop – the rice is far from the dry, mealy disappointment of ubiqituous mass-produced versions, having soaked in the sweet and savoury sauce from the tender char siew above. Also, egg!

While I was deciding which baos to order, the auntie lifted the cover of a huge bamboo steamer basket to unveil a mountain of siew mais steaming away, and it was just impossible to look away. 😄
While the savoury baos here were superb, I enjoyed these tasty little parcels more, especially since very few make these from scratch anymore.
I went back to take a photo after eating and there was only a single layer left then! Thank you #BurppleTastemaker Eileen for the recommendation. 😘 Can't wait to have this again during your #TastyTastemakerTour 👅💦
Used to avoid siew mai from most coffee shop Bao places due to odd taste they have which gets you all sick after just 1 piece. But the ones have none of those sickly taste! Each piece juicy and sweet (they added carrots) plus made fresh daily in stores no wonder these babies were selling like hotcakes!
Standard's a bit off though but still nice for brekkie. 😋✨☕️
