I’ve always associated Geláre with those family-friendly franchises that serve sub-par food, known more for their accessibility than gastronomic experience. However, this one visit has completely changed my view! This fluffy and toasty waffle arrived piled with my 2 densely packed scoops of ice cream and generously drizzled with chocolate fudge. Though lacking in aroma, the waffles were one of the best I’d ever had the privilege of consuming; crisp on the outside and both soft and sweet within. I especially liked the cookies n cream ice cream which contained fudge-y cookie bits! However, the strawberry tasted overly sweet and a little artificial - maybe a milder second flavor would’ve gone better with the first.
I’m still wondering if $15.80 is worth it though...the same spread and standard at Creamier (which boasts handcrafted artisanal ice cream) would’ve cost a little less. Nevertheless, if I’m ever in need of a quick fix, this’ll be my go-to dessert stop!
