The team behind Changkat’s Drift Dining & Bar bring their culinary prowess to Bangsar with a new resto-bar featuring a menu heavy on Mediterranean flavours. It’s a snazzy place and service is superb, so bookmark this spot for your next celebration with foodie friends. Begin your meal with small plates like the flavourful Dukkah Tiger Prawn (RM32) or the Moroccan Spiced Cauliflower (RM27), one of Drift’s signatures. On bigger plates, the Spiced Lamb Skewers (RM46) will satisfy. Cap off the meal with a drink – there is a wide selection of wines plus housemade cocktails.
Man, this was one heady cocktail I was not expecting. The team here infused their own gins – there’s an anise and cinnamon-infused one served with tonic. I went with the former and got a very strong hit of the spice, which was actually very pleasant but very potent. I had to ask them to top it off with tonic water. It was much easier to drink after!
If this dish seems familiar to you then you might have had it before at Drift Dining & Bar – this restaurant is run by the same people. What stood out the most is how simple and tasty this dish is – roasted cauliflower with tangy saffron yoghurt make a delicious pairing. Service here is excellent as well. The team is attentive and very welcoming.
It’s pricey for just three prawns, but each crustacean is fresh, plump and cooked well. I love the dukkah it comes with. It’s so flavourful and the salty olives work really nicely with the sweet prawns.
Off the bar menu, this dish makes a great sharing snack before the main meal. The pate is rich and savoury, and pairs exceptionally well with the sweet and tangy tomato chutney. I like the homemade lavosh cracker too. It’s not too crispy but provides nice texture contrast against the creamy pate.
