It's a long time never eat kwap chap ($6) already as I wanted to try this as it's just look good with duck. But the gravy was quite thick and bit slightly salty. But the broth for kwap chap was a slightly salty tbh. I felt that their ingredients such as tau pok, duck, braised pork and etc really too little for 1 pax.

What stood out for me at this hidden gem of a hawker stall was the soup. Made from the braising gravy, it held deep herbal sweet savoury earthy flavours, addictive and unstoppable.
.
The duck is sliced thick and chunky, its lean texture having a firm chew. The braise seems light on the duck, having a mild meaty savoury sweet herbal note.
.
The rice is fluffy, infused with grainy herbal sweet earthy notes from the braising gravy, but has no yam / taro chunks.
.
The chili contains white vinegar, punchy with tangy sour zesty spice notes, probably a little overpowering. The braised egg is alright.

Located within the Pek Kio Hawker Centre, this stall serves the Teochew style of kuey chup which comes with some thinly sliced duck meat, a quarter of egg, intestines, tau pok, and slices of pork belly. The rice noodles were silky and I like the herbal broth that comes with it. The tau pok was very well soaked with the broth which is a light savoury broth with subtle hint of herbs. Now on the downside, the pork belly was over cooked and very tough and the intestines were not well cleaned. At $3.50, itโ€™s value for money but there are more misses than hits.

Price: $3.50

We were there at 2pm on a sunday and the duck was sold out. But luckily we are still able to get some mixed items for 2 pax at $7! That's cheap! Will probably swing by again next time to try the duck but be there early!

As a student, my dad brought me to Pek Kio food centre every Saturday for lunch. And he always orders this and we'll share. He will be busy picking out yam from the rice for me because I love yam. After I started work, I got caught up w work and meeting w friends over the weekends. :/ Glad that I'm here w daddy again. Although this time round, I ordered. So, we actually don't eat intestines, but I am so used to my dad ordering everytime that I didn't realize the standard set came w intestines :x #hawkerpedia
