Bak Chor Mee

$3.00 ยท 6 Reviews

Everyone probably has had their fair share of BCM, but the one from Tiong Bahru Bak Chor Mee is one that you should try too!

With just the right balance between vinegar & sauce, the springy noodles are gently tossed together before being topped up with minced pork, sliced liver, sliced lean pork and if you'd like, meatballs too.

The combination of everything together in a mouthful is flavourful & the meatballs come with a surprise center - a saltier but juicy mixture of meat, which as Emily would say, is her favourite type of balls.

Tastemaker Emily S loves the Bak Chor Mee ($3) here, and it's easy to see why. Let's start with the basics. The stall owner is generous with the vinegar, and the chilli packs just the right amount of heat. This provides the perfect canvas for the generous amount of ingredients, which includes sliced and minced pork, mushrooms and greens. Their claim to fame however are the homemade meatballs ($1 for a pair); make sure to add these on! Tastemaker Emily describes the meatballs to explode with flavours once you sink your teeth in, thanks to the filling of juicy minced pork. We're sold!
Avg Price: $5 per person

I'll just be real upfront here: Tiong Bahru Bak Chor Mee is passable, but nothing special. For $3, they are pretty generous with the helping of minced pork, sliced pork & pig liver and it's all pretty well cooked. There wasn't enough sauce to coat the flat noodles evenly, and there was way too much vinegar in it.

However, what you're really here for are those homemade round, brown meatballs (extra $1). That pair, my son, is what fellow Tastemaker Emily proclaims to be her favorite balls. They are very unique as they are basically the stuffed Fuzhou fishballs that everyone knows and loves, but the fish paste is substituted in favor of minced meat that is formed into the bouncy, delectable balls that are guaranteed to please the crowd.

The superbly savory meatballs have a downright delicious and absolutely addictive minced meat core, and these soft balls explode with a tidal wave of flavors when you bite down into them. Stop reading this and go wrap your tongue around these stellar, savory balls right now.

My favourite Bak Chor Mee ่‚‰่„ž้ข ($3) - from the Tiong Bahru Bak Chor Mee stall #02-77!!

Vinegar game strong & chilli with the right amount of heat for me. Very generous with ingredients (so many slices of pork). But the real star of the show are the MEATBALLS (+$1 for a pair). They have a very yummy pork broth inside which explodes with flavours when you bite into it.

This stall started at beginning of the year and now there's a steady stream of ppl queuing. Very well cooked noodles by the younger man and the ingredients are fresh and tasty. Heard the meatballs are good so will try next time. Yummy yum yum. Posted by Ah Leong San 2016 September 1.

The huge meat ball is the draw to queue up. The noodle is very crunchy and well mixed with the sauces. Be prepared to wait as the elderly man takes his time to cook each bowl of noodles.
