Charcoal Seafood Paella

$28.00 · 13 Reviews

Yummy good food! Service was good too.
But still quite different from the food in Spain (based on memory)

Our favourite is the fried calamari andalusian style ($18) (bottom left photo). The calamari was soft and meaty and the batter was light so it went well with us even though it's deep fried. Generous portion and served 5 of us well. Though we don't exactly know what andalusian style mean.

We love the seafood paella also ($55, L), super flavourful and we enjoyed scraping the bottom of the pan that's got all the umami flavours.

Rest of the dishes include:
Top left: churros with chocolate dip (a bit too oily for our liking)
Top centre: spanish pork ribs, full slab (delicious and fall off the bone kind)
Top right: spanish omelette (egg well done style, otherwise default is runny egg)
Bottom centre: aged ham with bread
Bottom right: greek salad

Will be back to try other dishes, especially the beef items.

Was pleasantly surprised by this! The seafood (prawns, mussels) were pretty fresh and 鲜甜, and most importantly not overcooked. It’s saucy but not too wet. The sauce was very tasty, the peppers & onions in it gave very nice flavour. Portion was just nice for the 3 of us!

Really liked this seafood charcoal paella ($36) from @purabrasa.singapore! The rice was cooked perfectly, and was very flavourful and smokey. The seafood was nothing special, but the rice made up for it

Rich seafoody-broth with praise worthy mussels and huge prawns! It was a flavoursome carb. We got the big portion, shared among 5 and feeds just nice, especially if you're having the tapas and desserts. As for the 'charcoal' bit... sad to say it was kinda dropped in the taste profile. Perhaps it was just a reference to the charcoal pan in which it was served... (?) This was my first seafood paella and therefore, no prior reference to benchmark against. Shall try the squid ink version next time! Excited to find out how it compares to FOC's.

Charcoal Seafood Paella by Josper ($36)
It’s a pretty thin layer of paella (as expected from Spanish Paellas), but I do appreciate the strong seafood flavour here. It does get a little jelak, so I’d choose to share it than have 1 by myself. There’s a generous amount of seafood, so seafood lovers would really like this. Somehow I’d prefer Tapas24’s Paella for their flavours, but I haven’t tried Olivia’s to compare.

Went Pura Brasa with friends on Saturday evening. The overall ambience is cozy and we took nice photos with the bears. We ordered some authentic Spanish food which includes seafood paella, Spanish omelette, nachoes, Spanish pork ribs. Overalls the foods were great. Especially the nachos and pork ribs which roasted perfectly. However the customer service is poor. We have been told that we allow to stay for 2 hour duration however we have been ask to leave unpolitely by restaurant staff prior the allocated timing. This has left us ended with bitter feeling and disappointment.

Not quite the toasty, crispy, golden crust on the bottom (Soccarat), but nevertheless it was tasty and brimming with traditional Spanish flavors. Love how the prawns, chopped peppers, peas and chorizo justify their place in the pan as flavor lenders.

Generous portions of seafood with nicely done paella and ending with the yummiest socarrat (the crusty bottom) I’ve tasted! #burpple

Yummy
