Lemon Tart

First time trying the lemon tart @ tiong and I really think this is the best lemon tart I’ve had!

Green Tea Croissant ($5.20)

I have been looking forward to this croissant. There is a hint of matcha but it probably will not satisfy most matchaholics. However, it is not too sweet and the texture is great for a croissant!

Kouign Amann ($4.50)

Flaky, buttery and with the flavours of caramel, this is worth the calories and highly recommended! Will definitely buy again!

Lemon Tart ($7.50)

Tangy and not too cloying, there is a nice tart to it and every bite was delightful. Some might find it sour but I love it!

Lemon Tart ($7.50++)
Tangy, fragrant lemon curd on a buttery crumbly tart base. I really like this a lot. Not too sour or sweet. Just a perfect balance. Yumms

Croque Monsieur ($10.50 + $3 salad)
If you are unsure what to get, this is a very safe choice to consider. It’s good. But it is quite a big portion. Recommend sharing. It came with a salad on the side but after checking the receipt, we realised that they charged us another $3 for the salad. Maybe it just comes tgt as a set.

Tbb’s croissants are my favorite so this time round I tried the roast beef croissant sandwich. The beef filling was so flavorful that it took the croissant to another level. Ordered the Le Parisian (Ham & Cheese Baguette) as well but not that special. Lemon tart is a must try if your stomach has spare space.

On the menu indefinitely, TBB’s afternoon tea set features three tiers of assorted pastries and savoury items in a bamboo steamer.

After the first savoury basket with a mini croque monsieur-like Baked Ham and Cheese, Pulled Pork Sandwich and Squid Ink Smoked Salmon, comes a second tier with French bites. This for me fared the best, as you would expect of the bakery! The Valrhona Choc Tart is very rich, while the Pistachio Raspberry Financier has a sweet-sourish pop of flavours and the Lemon Tart, creamy, zesty, crunchy all at once. The final tier sees local flavours with Pandan Flan, Coconut Cheesecake and Blue Pea and Yuzu Panna Cotta.

All in all, the (naughtily-named) teatime treat is a nice way to experience the bakery’s best, shared with a few friends.

The Running Egg croissant with ramen eggs and bonito flakes was the clear winner of the day. To me, the new lemon tarts from @tiongbahrubakery are way overrated. The curd held up well, perhaps a little too well. I'd much prefer my curd to have more of a thick consistency than a gelatinous texture. At level 3, you get a huge hit of citrus - perfect for someone who's looking for one. Lemon tart lovers will enjoy the #elecitrusity but it's safe to say I am not a fan of super sour lemon jelly. Give me two Running Egg croissants NAO.

I always liked citrusy flavours and I knew I had to try this lemon tart when it was making its rounds on Instagram! TBB is definitely thoughtful to come up with three levels of sourness/tanginess for these tarts. I find the level two one a good mix of sourness and sweetness, and I'm looking forward to trying a level three one! ($6.50)

Crumbly tart holding somewhat like a sphere of lemon curd - personally level 2 & 3 appeals more to me as I really love sour stuff! But Level 2 best because of the slight hint of sweetness (desserts still has to be sweet huh?), while the sourness really making the overall less gelat as I could easier finish the whole thing myself.
Apart from the Lemon Tart, they rolled out more desserts like my favourite - the dark chocolaty Brownie ($6), or the Berries Tart ($8.50) that was given a new softer tart base with some pistachio love.
Now, a new month with 30 more days to complete more things! Go go gooooo! (But don't forget to reward yourself with a lemon tart along the way 😏)
