Bought this using Burpple Beyond 1 for 1! First meal outside after CB and I would say it was a pretty good choice.
Miso Salmon had good flavours but the portion was a bit small considering the price. Fish and Chips was definitely the winner for me considering the price, portion and taste. It came with 2 huge slabs of battered fish freshly out of the wok and a bunch of chips by the side. Super crispy and yummy!
For the drinks, we had hot Americano and iced mocha. The americano was a bit acidic but still acceptable for me. Iced mocha was good! Not too sweet.
Fragrant coconut rice, fried chicken wing, fried selar fish, fried egg, anchovies and peanuts and the most important component...sambal chilli sauce! My fried egg was still runny in the middle and the chicken wing was still crispy even though it was cold by the time it reached home. Simple, yummy dinner but the rice portion is quite little. I don’t have a big appetite but the portion was just right for me after the addition of the fish.
This stall is popular for its thick and saucy dry wanton mee but I prefer noodle soups, therefore opted for the soup version. For $3.50, WORTH is the only word I can use to describe this bowl. In my opinion, the star would be the thick cuts of Char Siew, perfectly charred and not too fatty, just the right amount of fats I would say. The queue moves quite fast so don’t worry about having to wait too long to get a bowl!
Soft, silky, smooth beancurd topped with ginkgo and grass jelly. The perfect old-school dessert to have any time of the day. And for $2.50 a bowl? What a steal!
The seafood on ice was the star of the show! Free-flow Boston lobsters that were practically wiped out within minutes! I’m usually not crazy over seafood on ice and sashimi but I have to admit that the seafood on ice here were beyond amazing. The prawns and salmon sashimi were so fresh!
Cooked food wise..the selections were quite limited and tasted quite average to be honest. As a salmon lover, my favourite would have to be the whole baked salmon. An entire salmon fish was literally placed on the serving table...soft, tender, flaky...simply delicious.
I’m a dessert person too but they were a bit disappointing though. Very average. The small Portuguese egg tarts were not bad though but definitely put your focus on the seafood!
$17.50 for 2 sliders, 2 sides and an ice lemon tea. I’m not a beef eater so I am unsure how similar does this taste to beef but the sliders tasted quite good. Good but not outstanding so I think it’s worth a try but I do think it’s quite pricy. Sides and drinks were average.
Rose flavoured pastry cream, garnished with sweet rose jelly and edible rose petals. Pretty subtle rose fragrance and a bit sweeter than the Signature Mille Crêpe but still really good.
Cheesecake infused with yuzu peel and puree, with a vanilla sponge cake on the bottom. Okay but not outstanding
This cake needs no introduction. A classic favourite. You can never come here without ordering this. Just perfect.
Thick whipped cream center between two layers of almond flour cake topped with chestnut-infused cream, and garnished with roasted walnuts and snow sugar. Whipped cream is a bit too thick for my liking and the chestnut flavour is rather subtle. Not a bad cake but not my favourite.
Whipped cream lying between vanilla and chocolate sponge cake squares, all covered in a dark chocolate ganache. A classic!
Lemon Tart ($7.50++)
Tangy, fragrant lemon curd on a buttery crumbly tart base. I really like this a lot. Not too sour or sweet. Just a perfect balance. Yumms
Croque Monsieur ($10.50 + $3 salad)
If you are unsure what to get, this is a very safe choice to consider. It’s good. But it is quite a big portion. Recommend sharing. It came with a salad on the side but after checking the receipt, we realised that they charged us another $3 for the salad. Maybe it just comes tgt as a set.
