First time having this dish! Crispy and soft, I only wish the beef was more flavorful. Hope they offer more types of beef like japanese wagyu!
Glad to have found these Gyu Katsu and they were just as tasty. The hot plate allowed us to heat it up to the doneness we liked. We loved it best with just a little salt to taste its original juiciness.
In addition, their mixed skewer sticks were also delicious. The variety of prawn, shiitake, fish, chicken etc was good. The fried cheese stick would be a must for another who enjoys an oozy melted cheese in crispy batter.
So yes, this is a good alternative to pork Katsu and we will definitely return.
Beef katsu! I love tonkatsu so it's no surprise that I'm a sucker for this too. Choose the done-ness of your steak fillet by grilling it yourself on their hot plates. Also helps that it's decently priced $24.90 for a 90g cutlet set. More please!
This came to the table rarer than i expected ๐ณ but then i took great joy in grilling the beefy slivers on the individual hotplates that were provided to my preferred doneness.. Which is hard, given i don't cook steaks much at home :/ all in all, it was a fun little exercise, and the beef was moderately tender though the fried batter overwhelmed any flavour it had. The lunch set made it a better deal by including rice, free-flow cabbage and a panna cotta dessert.
This precise method gives the beef cutlet a crispy crust while the meat remains medium-rare within.
There is a heated burner who allows you to grill the beef even further, if you want it more cooked. #danielfooddiary
So pretty, I had to take a close-up shot of this oishii (delicious) beef cutlet. ๐
At Ginza Kushi-Katsu, they fry things up and we fell in love with the gyu-katsu (beef cutlet). ๐
The Australia tenderloin was deep fried for 60 seconds at 210ยฐC to create the crispy and crunchy exterior yet keeping the meat pinkish with doneness at medium-rare.
All beef lovers would love this - we get to control the doneness with the heated mini teppan! ๐ Watch the beef sizzle and its natural oil and juice surface, creating the ultimate gloss on the warm pinkish meat. The texture, the savory and sweet taste, every bite was a luxurious enjoyment. ๐
The Double Gyu-Katsu Rice Set comes with rice, potato salad, free flow cabbage, miso soup and dessert - mini panna cotta with kuromitsu (black sugar). There were mustard mayonnaise, rock salt and wasabi soy sauce to dip in for additional flavour. Never thought I'd say this but beef cutlet went well with wasabi. ๐
P.S.: The Gyu-Katsu Rice Set is also available at $24.80 for 90g of beef fillet. Though it seems like an obvious choice for beef lovers like us to go for 180g.. haha!
