The Assorted Bowl ($16.90) comes with 12 slices of assorted seafood on top of flavoured Japanese rice. The sashimi slices are fresh, thick and full of natural sweetness. The rice is equally impressive - Iโm not sure what they did to the rice but it is so flavourful that I did not need any additional sauce to go with the sashimi. This is one delicious and value-for-money sashimi bowl that you can find under a HDB flat at Tanjong Pagar Plaza.
Two thumbs up for the spicy salmon don ๐๐
Relatively affordable and yummy Japanese dons. The regular salmon came with 8 pieces of juicy salmon pieces. Not the best cuts (and one had a bone) but decent and enjoyable for the price! While most places serve standard plain sushi rice, love that their rendition comes with fragrant rice and a whole range of sides - chewy jellyfish, wakame, and crunchy pickles.
The rice was flavoured with distinct but not overpowering truffle, with added delights from tobiko, sesame, and chopped mushrooms. Added tobiko (+$2) for extra textural contrast and pops of briny juiciness.

Their truffle infused rice never fails to amaze me especially with itโs sweet-smelling fragrant, rather than pungency. The addition of tobiko roe provided a symphony of textures โ with surprising pops in between takes. ๐ฅท The salmon was neither the silkiest nor smoothest one Iโve had but for this price, still acceptable lah! ๐ถโ๐ซ๏ธ

Iโm not quite sure what the hallmark of good tuna is but mine tasted slightly fishy and stale. As you can see from the pic it was kindaaa breaking apart alrdy. :/

Think the cooked bowls tastes better! Really liked their aburi salmon too so perhaps get that instead. ๐

When my bf first showed me a photo of his Salmon Don from this little eatery and raved about how good the rice was, I had doubts that it would surpass those of Japanese restaurants (like hello, who serves good dons in plastic bowls that look like they belong in food courts?), and that it was probably just rice mixed with some darn good furikake that can be bought from the supermarket.
Boy was I wrong! This humble little shop really paid attention to their rice, a fragrant truffle mushroom flavor laced with crunchy ebiko. My favorite from this place is still their Salmon Sashimi Don ($10.90, 8 slices), because it brings out the flavor of the rice the most without overwhelming it. Definitely give this eatery a shot!
Loveeee this bowl that includes salmon, tuna, swordfish, jellyfish, squid, octopus, scallop. Really love the variety they provide in this one bowl although each item has only a few slices but yknoooow for the price, pretty damn good!
As usual, the truffle mushroom rice is amazing and this cosy place still tops one of my list of places for chiraishi!
