A good one. The mascarpone was tasty. I don't take alcohol but my dining partner said the alcohol was weak here
Worth getting if you're alr here.
Overall
For this location it's pretty pricey tho. The starters are easily close to 30 which is abit crazy, even tho the pastas are similarly priced. 1 starter 2 pastas and 1 dessert set us back 60bucks which is abit crazy for somewhere not located in the city. Maybe cos Japanese expats are rich. I guess you pay for tha ambience tho because the Italian manager is very loud and keeps speaking Italian so you do feel it's authentic
Centre was strong in cream flavour but the sides were too thick. Olive oil was good as mentioned but the tomatoes were tasteless
Overall it's decent
I have to say the Japanese crowd wasn't a good omen but the food was surprisingly legit
The gnocchi were tiny, it's curd like and takes a few bites to dissipate. The gorgonzola sauce was legit tho, it's strong and creamy but not overly funky at all, most cheese lovers should find this easily acceptable. Somehow their walnuts were super fragrant too and everything played well tgt. Simple but delicious
However the food is damn hot idk why. Took more than 5mins before it's at an edible temperature
Meh. Crust was hard and centre was dense. The olive oil and balsamic were good tho
They have another pizza style focaccia but I think most reviews here discourage ordering anything remotely resembling a pizza in this restaurant
Pricey but You won’t regret it - so decadent but fluffy light, my date finished most of it in minutes!
We came here after I saw a picture of the vongole pasta, and we’re not disappointed! Although pricey the ambience really resembled an authentic Italian restaurant - pasta was beautifully done al dente and steak was cooked medium rare as per order, albeit nothing too special or large a piece. tip to get wine if you don’t want to spend $8 for water :~)
bread basket that blew our mind: the focaccia was super fragrant, herby, airy with a slight chew! had it with and without the olive oil + vinegar pairing and without is actually tasty enough. we even asked for a second serving cos it was so good 🤤
(Aperol Spritz – Campari Spritz – Campari Soda – Bellini – Mimosa)
this is one cocktail i rly enjoyed! sorry not an alcohol connoisseur clearly so i can only tell y’all that it’s fruity, and not very siap so it was easy on the palate and not a bad drink to cut thru all that saltiness at the end of it 🥵
this is a dish i wished i enjoyed cos it looks and sounds so good! 😩 topped with pork salami, ham and mushrooms - it was once again too salty for us (is it us lol 👉🏻👈🏻) the mushrooms did help to cut thru the saltiness but there wasn’t enough to go around to clear the palate unfortunately.
ear shaped pasta was exactly what the server described when he recommended this dish to us. my fav thing about it is that came extremely hot & stayed warm thoroughout! the flavour unfortunately wasn’t rly up our alley - a little too heavy & salty.
the burrata - soft, light yet creamy (how do they do that?!) and not jelat, this made it my most enjoyable burrata experience so far! a perfect pairing with the olive oil drizzle, rocket, sweet cherry tomatoes ✨ as someone with a strong dislike to tomatoes, this was amazing out of 10. i'll defo order this appetiser again! only weird thing was the bottom was a little tough!
Good and legit Italian food can be pretty pricey but it’s totally worth it. Just thought of sharing with y’all a hidden gem in Bukit Timah that serves good and hearty Puglian cuisine. Caruso Italian Ristorante doesn’t have an active Instagram page but it’s popular with the expat community. Please keep on reading my review as the pictures don’t tell a thousand words here.
Pizza with tomato, mozzarella, Italian pork sausage and gorgonzola cheese. I found the pizza to be a bit plain for my liking and it wasn’t as cheesy as I’d expect it to be. And the pizza dough can be a little too hard chewy.
Go for their pastas instead of their pizzas. Service needs improvement for sure as the staff can be slow on a busy night.

Don’t judge the food by its cover.
As a cheese lover, I love the creamy, robust and nutty Gorgonzola cheese sauce that pairs so well with the gnocchi. It can be strong for the average Asian palette but I reckon this is a good dish to start appreciating blue cheese.
Topped with some toasted walnuts for a well-rounded finish. It does get a bit cloying (jelak) at the end so you may want to share this with a friend.

Fresh parpadelle pasta with slow braised lamb and Pecorino cheese. Fresh pasta over dried pasta any day. Even if you don’t enjoy lamb, I’m sure this will be pretty appealing as it’s not gamey but you can taste the richness in the ragu gravy. Just love how soft and tender the braised meat is as it’s been slow cooked for eight hours.

Caruso is probably one of the best fried calamari rings I had in Singapore. The batter which is made with semolina flour is super light and crispy yet not incredibly greasy. And the squid rings are so tender and chewy which means that it’s fresh! It’s good dipping it in both the marinara and tartare sauce. If you want to rid the fishy smell, add some lemon.
I’ve never been to Puglia or had Puglia style Italian food before so I don’t know whether it’s authentic, but i thought it was not bad. We ordered the seafood soup and the pork belly and both were good - lots of seafood in the soup, and the pork belly was really lean but still tender with very light and crispy skin. The mushroom soup that we had for appetizer was disappointing tho, felt quite watered down.
Pity all the excitement about the spicy pork gave way to the disappointment of a soggy pizza.
The pasta comes with a generous amount of seafood in Vermentino wine and cherry tomato sauce. Mum says this is as good as the pasta she had in Florence.
The sea bass is not one of the original options but my sis can't eat a lot of things, so the staff was very obliging and offered this instead. In the background is roasted ribeye with roasted potatoes in porcini mushroom and black truffle sauce. Very good service here!
