The Cream of Mushroom Soup was serviceable, hearty though nothing spectacular. The accompanying baguette slices are on the harder side, perfect for soaking in the creamy soup. Would say the baguette is closer to the European style (crunchier, harder) so I can understand if people are not used to the hardness. 🥖
The Kaya Cruffin was another crowd pleaser too! Quite enjoyed the prominent pandan +coconut flavors of the kaya spread evenly in the crispy & dense cruffin layers, though it got overwhelmingly sweet towards the end. 💚
Dropped by Cafe Brera @bakerybrera during our museum date for brunch! One of the must-gets at Bakery Brera’s cafe concept are the croissants, known for the crispy exterior and buttery layers within. This Almond Croissant is no exception, with toasted almonds adorning the glossy laminated surface. The interior is also jam-packed (geddit?😆) with lightly sweetened almond paste.🥐
Besides the usual crowd favourites and freshly baked breads, the cafe offers local-inspired sandwiches, mains and desserts and a selection of drinks. The Chicken Curry is served in a bowl with chicken drumsticks, potato chunks and preferred choice of bread. My choicenl of toasted baguette slices had a nice crust and a soft pillowy interior that soaked in the gravy without becoming soggy. Comfortingly homely, the curry gravy was thick, lemak, not too oily and fragrant, and the meat on the drumsticks were fork-tender. There was a little warm heat which some may find it a little mild if you are looking for a spicy kick.
