Was at bugis today and decided to try this outlet. This was my first time dining here and I am super disgusted by the food served here. I ordered a chicken rice set and the chicken was filled with blood and uncooked. Complained to the chinese waitress and she was very unhappy and walked away without acknowledging. It was only when we called her back again she said the most i gave u one more plate of chicken. We were very shocked by the service standards. How could you serve such uncooked chicken filled with blood especially the chef who was chopping the chicken would have seen the redness.
Do not try. Bad service.
This place is supposed to be famous for their chicken rice but I personally feel there is nothing special about it. They also have some zi char dishes which are not terrific but will do for a quick and economical meal.
I'll try their curry fish head the next time around! It's just right next to the famous fish steamboat on tan quee lan street. Food was good and affordable too!
Each piece comes succulent and plump, and even the breast meat came surprisingly tender without being dry and rough. Soy sauce flavours were also being absorbed into the meat so it was indeed flavourful and delicious
Curry was well laden with vegetables and was pretty fragrant as the tastes of the spices were well brought out. Within the rich and thick curry was the fish head which came with a substantial amount of meat. Pretty decent quality.
Chuen Chuen Cafe (previously at Keypoint Beach Road) offers decent quality chicken rice, tasty chicken variations such as Curry chicken noodles, Marmite chicken, Imperial honey chicken and other zi char dishes. All in all a good experience but there is certainly better food in this area with the same kind of money, and definitely more friendliness in service.
