First time dining at bangkok jam and surprisingly the food is better than what I expected!!!
Used the fave voucher 20$ for 8$ only.
Beef short ribs was tough but savory and well crusted from the marinade. Chicken was the opposite; lacking in flavour but very tender. Squid was a complete letdown, rubbery to the point my dining companion's jaws hurt from chewing it. At least the prawns have a nice smoke and texture was fine.
Not a big fan of the goopy dip(think it's plum sauce?), but the standard sour chili sauce complemented the seafood well.
Overall because of the quality of the food, even with the fave voucher it wasnt very worth it.
I was initially a bit worried that this stew would be too sour for my liking due to the tamarind, but it wasn't the least bit tangy. In fact, it was (again) too sweet for me. This however was more palatable than the beef shin because the stew was actually really rich and well-spiced. A pity the aftertaste was sugary sweet. :(
Fork tender beef, generous side of steamed bokchoy, but... There was way too much sugar in this for my taste. A corner of the beef was in fact chewy due to the caramelised sugar. It tasted a little like bakkwa but in the form of lor bak, which was a truly odd culinary experience for me cause I wa definitely expecting something savoury.
Juicy chunks of pomelo, dressed in a sweet-tangy dressing and accompanied by the rich nuttiness of cashews made for a really good appetiser and palate cleanser.
