Ayam Penyet President (VivoCity)

Preferred this to the ayam penyet!! Tender chicken with grilled tofu & tempeh coated in a sweet sauce. The set doesn’t come with rice so if you’re gonna top up for it might as well opt for the fragrant yellow rice ($2.50)! I also got teh c ($2) which was q sweet but it kinda hits👍🏼

a bit too salty

Website states restaurant opens at 11.30AM. We walked in at 11.45AM. Server said we can sit down but only able to order at 12PM. We agreed.

At 12PM, server came around to give out the ordering paper slips. Their main item Ayam Penyet is not available! Couldn’t the server have told us earlier?

We chose other items and proceeded to the counter to order at 12.05PM. Lady at the counter said they can take the order, but the kitchen can only start preparing the food in another 10-15 mins time.

What’s the point of staying on the website that the restaurant opens at 11.30AM, when the kitchen is not even ready to prepare food until 12.15PM?

Ordered the grilled chicken + rice ($7.90 nett) as have sore throat. I was disappointed that the chicken is mushy which show sign that it is frozen.

Prices start friendly, $6.50-$8.50 for most of the mains, however do take note that their ayam penyat doesn't come with tumeric rice. If you would like tumeric rice, you got to add $2.20 (which is abit on the pricey side to me though considering that rice is usually included in ayam penyet set).

I found their Rendang($8.50) and Tauhu Telor delicious. Rendang serving was ridiciously small, like 8-10 pieces of meat? Overall the food is nice, just that their mains comes in small portion.

Good for small pax sharing.
