Fans of Teochew cuisine, get your fill here at Auntie Sim Kitchen. Order the Teochew Braised Duck Rice (RM9.50) for tender, flavourful duck meat and don't forget to add a Braised Egg (RM1.50) to complete your meal! Otherwise, slurp up the Mixed Pork Kuey Chap (RM8.80) — an elusive yet delicious soupy dish typically enjoyed in the northern regions of Peninsular Malaysia. Dishes can also be ordered in bigger portions to share so if you're looking to please your family or a group of colleagues, this little kitchen will do.

Kuey chap; a teochew dish of flat rice sheets swimming inside a bowl of tasty herbal broth which consists of salted vegetables, beancurd, pork intestines/stomach.

Having it being my first time trying this dish, I was a little disappointed as I had rather high expectations from the constant raves of my peers from all over the country. Generally, the kuey chap (RM8.80) at Auntie Sim's restaurant tasted satisfactory to me, the innards were handled and cooked properly but there was a slight taste to the kuey that I did not really enjoy as it left a bland taste in my mouth.

Hopefully, I'll be able to discover a place nearby that will allow me to have a better kuey chap experience next time!

Heard Kuey Chap before, doesn't sound very interesting. Then, come to Auntie Sim Kitchen, decided to give it a try. For 8.80 RM, I got a bowl full of Mixed Pork Kuey Chap. It really looks like in the picture above. Smells a bit like bak kut teh. The Kuey Chap texture is very jelly-ish and chewy. But, There's no taste! All I can taste is the soup which is a bit sweet and also the taste of the pork meat. When you order this, you better eat faster cause the Kuey Chap are absorbing the soup and it makes you full very fast. Heard Kuey Chap before, it does taste interesting.
