I came to this coffee shop for wanton mee and noticed this wu xiang xia bing stall located in the same coffee shop. The prices here are not cheap and taste quite average. Contrary to the good reviews I see online, mine seems to differ. Not sure if it was because we ordered almost an hour before closing but the oil used to fry these items doesn’t look clean. It has been overused too many times resulting in a dark shade almost burnt colour on the ingredients. It was also too oily for me to truly enjoy my order 😟 》$9

The old-school taste of tradition, with generous portions. Located in the Aljunied / Geylang area.
.
Freshly made crisp prawn cracker fritters with fragrant savoury sweet shrimpy flavour, thick chunky chewy guan chang / Chinese marinated lean pork sausages with meaty savoury earthy flavour, and bouncy fish cake with mild sweet savoury flavour.
.
Also appreciated the fresh cucumber and pickled daikon radish strips, which helped contrast the fried items with their vegetal sweet sour notes.
.
Paired with a thick chili garnished with diced shallots, sharply spicy with a hint of sour. Skip the fried bee hoon / vermicelli noodles. Price can vary though, seemingly on their whim, and they'll also try to upsell you.

This wu xiang in the same coffeeshop as Koung wanton mee turned out to be so delicious! The ingredients taste really homemade, esp the beancurd wrapped with fish paste and the ngor hiang. The fried tofu was also really soft inside. My fav was actually the prawn cracker which isn’t pictured here - unlike other places that use rather small prawns or slightly dry ones, the prawn in their prawn biscuit was rather substantial! Think this is one of the best wu xiangs I’ve had. Their beehoon is average though, not the tastiest.

At Geylang Lor 21A, a lost gem was found...

For those who used to frequent the corner coffee shop along Armenian Street, you would recall two stalls in it. The Char Kway Teow and the Wu Xiang store. Since the coffee shop had made way for new swanky offices, the owners of the wu xiang store has problems finding a new location. They first moved to the Chinese Swimming Club and set up store next to the swimming pool. Business was not as brisk as only members are allowed to enter the club. After a two years hiatus, the owner's wife informed that they had set up store att 128 Tembeling Road. This coffee shop also house the famous Ang Mo Noodles with Wanton.

Anyway on to the food. The prawn cracker is freshly made and cooked on the spot. So it is piping hot and crispy when served. Also high recommended are the sotong, ngoh hiang and also the pink coloured sausages (some people call it Guan Chiang). The beehoon is not fantastic but I always ask for large helping of ikan bilis to complement the dish.

The cracker is crispy and good cause it doesn't have any oily taste.

Recommended by the auntie to try this which looks like fishcake with egg but taste like omelette is actually quite good. I love the given pickled white raddish, it's just nice without the overpowering vinegar taste.
When i was young this sweet sauce is quite common at ngoh hiang stall but now u can hardly find this anymore, even there is it taste quite weird. This is the old sch kind of sweet sauce which i have been looking for does brings back memories.
Damaged: $15
It's too expensive for 2pcs of squid, 1 fishball, 1 prawn cracker and 1 eggy fishcake but the uncle and auntie are friendly!
