From the Burpple community

The Signature Yi Bua and Japanese Sweet Potato Yi Bua from All Things Hainanese at Bras Basah Complex offer an addictive chewy texture that's hard to resist.
Generously filled with a delightful mix of grated coconut, ginger, crushed peanuts, and sesame seeds, these steamed snacks are perfect for grabbing on the go.
Don’t miss out on this deliciously unique treat!

Also found it interesting that they incorporated the Yi Bua fillings into their Mochi! The glutinous rice skin is a bit softer and QQ compared to the yi bua, and I like the textural contrast against the coat of coarsely ground peanut.

Their Signature Yi Bua 薏粑 seems to be a rarity in Singapore, considering the relatively smaller Hainanese community and the effort needed to make these steamed snacks. So it's pretty heartening to see their third generation doing their best to keep this tradition alive as part of their late grandma's legacy! If you love coconut or gula melaka, you will enjoy the caramelised flavour and bite from the grated coconut within the chewy glutinous rice skin. Took a while to get used to the ginger and dried persimmon, but I enjoyed the warmth and soothing overtones that balanced.

Not sure why but there’s a hint of ginger taste in the Mochi.
