A standard bowl of Hei Mee. Flavourful broth with springy yellow noodles, a classic no frills hawker dish done well. Prawns were fresh too.
Not too long of a queue and wait on a weekday morning, which was nice as we were hungry!
For $5.50, this was chock full of ingredients and the broth remained so flavourful and umami even though I had this packed and taken away.
Soup was just nice - not diluted and not too concentrated/briny/salty, was quite satisfying! It’s the kind where it doesn’t feel ultra sinful or have you reaching out for water. Prawns were juicy and crunchy, easily peeled with a pair of chopsticks and a spoon. My bf ordered yellow mee tho, and I hate yellow mee so I will not comment on the noodles haha. At $5.50 I think this is pretty good value :) Worthy of the small (but fast moving) queue it commands.
🍤🍜 This is the famous Albert Street Prawn Noodles. I got the basic prawn noodles (S$5.50) with bee hoon mee. The broth is sweetish and very flavourful. It should be a bit spicy to balance out the flavours. I should have added in more chili powder😑.
The prawns are fresh and the noodles taste normal. However i feel its a forgettable bowl of prawn noodles🙄. Overall its nice and alot of people queue for it, but i don't know if i will eat it again.
Try it and let me know what you think.
First time trying and got the bigger portion. Soup was quite smooth and not salty. Noodle went well with the intestines and soup but it didn’t make me go WOW-ed considering all the reviews I read before trying.
The other $10 bowl consists of prawns and intestines. Yumz..
Can't finish the kway tiao because I finish all the soup from all the bowls. Haha
