🍴These delicious #harcheonggai (shrimp paste fried chicken) by a young chef are affordable and incredibly well-executed. Fried to perfection, they remained amazingly crispy even after the 30min journey back home (although would recommend re-toasting them for a few minutes to get it temperature warm). Beyond the crispy batter, the chicken meat remained tender. The fragrance also permeated the chicken meat instead of just being on the exterior skin (like some places) and we liked that the prawn paste flavour didn’t overpower that of the chicken. The accompanying house-made chilli added a nice spicy kick although the chicken was already so flavourful by itself, we felt that it didn’t need anything else

Ah Tan Wings was one of those establishments that I’ve always wanted to try, but the locations are slightly out of the way.
I’m glad I tried it. It definitely lives up the the hype of being “one of the best Har Cheong Gai (HCG) wings in Singapore”.
Sinking my teeth into the crispy batter exploding with HCG flavors, I knew I was in for a treat. Batter was amazingly crispy and light, definitely not greasy. The HCG flavour was super on-point. Remember those half-hearted HCG wings you had? Ah Tan Wings are not those wings.
The chicken was amazingly juicy and not dry at all. HCG flavors had also penetrated into the chicken meat, making the entire experience a very enjoyable and HCG-packed one.
My only gripe would be that I was served COLD rice. Like really cold, it wasn’t even lukewarm. The service provided by a certain female was also pretty subpar. But no, this won’t stop me from revisiting and munching on these HCG wings with beer. Note to self, remember to ask for HOT rice next time!
Finally tried the famous Ah Tan Wings @ahtanwings without having to travel so far to Yishun!
I had the 𝐀𝐭𝐚𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐥 ($5.20), which came with an aromatic rice (like nasi lemak) with four pieces (two drumlets and two wings) of har cheong gai, and a sunny side-up egg. It was such a satisfying and affordable meal with crispy, fragrant and juicy chicken wings! 😋
Fyi 👉🏼 The stall at Timbre+ closes quite early at 8pm 👈🏼
I just had this 2 weeks ago... craving for its taste again. The smell, the juicy wings & it’s chilli. They’re heavenly.
Smell and taste heavenly. Though it’s take-away, it’s Still warm and crispy after 20 min
