Mee Pok (Dry)
PRICE: $4
+$1 to upsize noodles
WAITING TIME: Slightly over 5 minutes on a weekday past 1PM
REMARKS:
- Smells of vinegar but the vinegar taste isn't so overpowering, so that's good for me
- Nice seasoning. Can taste the fragrance of fried pork lard in the seasoning.
- Fishballs are bouncy
- Soup is nice
- Otak is $1.50 (but we didn't get it)
Deep fried crispy wanton.
Always a popular snack to be shared.
Consistently tasty fillings.
Delightful bowl of wanton.
Clear broth, lightly salted.
Tasty with any combination of noodles bowl.
Opted for the upgraded version (additional ingredients and fresh prawns!) which costs $5.
Noodles were springy and the upgrade was definitely worth the money. However, the coffeeshop that this store is located in is pretty small and warm so we always have issues finding seats and end up sweating buckets.
Overall, I donโt think the bowl of noodles is spectacular enough for me to WANT to squeeze in the small + warm space but I wouldnโt mind heading there if Iโm around the area.
Heard that their signature is MEE pok tar, but i've been having sinful meals so i opted for the soup version. This might be a bad decision after all. ๐คฃ
.
I liked that the meepok didnt have the unpleasant alkaline or starchy taste, but they were wayyyy too soft for my liking. ๐ Portion of noodles was little too but enough for a lady for lunch.
.
For $4 a bowl, there was a generous amount of minced meat, tender pork slices & earthy dried mushrooms! ๐๐๐ But where are my pork liver slices? ๐ค
.
Their fishball was rather huge & bouncy! Meatball was pretty small but had a very firm & chewy texture. These balls were yums! ๐
.
Their soup tasted rather savoury but im not sure if that is a result of MSG! ๐คฃ plus they added the celery leaves that i detest! ๐ญ
.
Overall, this is probably not something I would return for. A far-cry from my fav Ming Fa Fishball Noodles! ๐
