Our final stop of Burpple's #TastyTastemakerTour was The Tiny Roaster situated at Sunset Way!

This tiny café doesn't just sell good coffee but also teas, imported cheesecakes, coffee tools and equipment! A big pull here is that it conducts brewing, roasting, espresso sessions it its studio to educate coffee connoisseurs and enthusiasts.

They source their beans from all over the world, from Asia, Africa and Central America - all in which carry their own unique flavour. Feel free to enquire with the baristas on ANYTHING about coffee.

Pictured is my dark brew of Yirgacheffe Kochere from Ethiopia ($7). It possesses a light-medium citrusy acidity with floral jasmine tones while having a low body yet leaving a creamy and soft mouthfeel. Yes, I know this because I googled.

The second stop of the @Burpple #TastyTastemakerTour, @paddyhills.sg!

Paddy Hills has been known to adapt and experiment with their menus, bringing new and interesting flavours to their dishes. Their new menu will be introduced really soon!

The tonkatsu risotto (price, TBC) is a great example of such ingenuity. As you lift the crispy seaweed, it unveils a creamy risotto and slices of tender pork cutlet.

What I loved most was the white "pork snow", a powder which was converted from fatty pork liquids to provide a meatier dimension to the risotto. This process of making such powders is commonly used in molecular gastronomy!

SO I'VE FINALLY GOT TO TRY ATLAS COFFEEHOUSE! All thanks to Burpple's #TastyTastemakerTour!

It's usually so packed but thank goodness that they reserved a couple of tables for us. What I can say is that the café definitely serves up to the hype.

The food and coffee were goooood and I especially loved their salmon soba noodles (MY FAV! $17), their scrambled eggs (it's a $3-add-on option to the popular creamy mushroom on sourdough), and the buttermilk waffles with mixed berries compote (pictured, $12.50).
.
I will definitely be back to try their pancakes and superbowls!

Major props to @the_xw for leading us around for the tour. I really enjoyed myself thoroughly! 😋

Woohoo! It's Friday! What are you having for lunch?
.
I got my Korean fix (because I'm missing Korean food like krazy) at one of my favourite Korean haunts - Kim Dae Mun Korean Food. It's really popular among the working crowd in Orchard.
.
I had the Spicy Pork bulgogi set (S$8.50). With the set, you get the main, steamed rice, beancurd soup and an appetiser. Now I know it may not sound thaaaat cheap relative to food court prices but they are generous with the amount of meat and it's pretty darn authentic. (Food's even prepared by ajummas! Haha.) The sizzling gochujang (or hot pepper paste) had the right amount of spiciness and saltiness that just kept me going.

How fun is this! Half-buried in a mini bucket of ice is a glass with cubes of raw octopus, shrimp and fish soaked in a chilled, light and spicy tomato sauce. Placed across the top of the glass is a tortilla crisp upon which sits sliced avocados and a wedge of lime. To eat, you're suppose to use a spoon to break the tortilla which naturally, causes it along with everything else, to fall into the glass. Now you just have to give all the ingredients a good stir before tucking in.

Another of my favourites from @biglazychop - the humble Hotplate Hakka Beancurd (S$13++)!
.
At #zichar restaurants, I must order 铁板豆腐 without fail and I dare say that #BigLazyChop's rendition is one of the best I've ever had.
.
The tofu is homemade and it has a smooth silky interior barely held together by the fried skin. The effervescent thick meaty sauce together with the fried egg make a wonderfully savoury combination. Just give me this and a bowl of white rice (or two) and I'll be utterly satisfied.
.
Thank you @biglazychop, @foodnewspr and @burpple for the scrumptious meal! 😋

This dish caught me by surprise at how much I actually enjoyed it from the mixing of the raw egg to going back for a second helping. Stewed Crab Meat Vermicelli in Egg White Sauce ($28) might seem like any other day kinda dish but trust me, this is an absolutely legit dish. If only the restaurant is located somewhere in the Central or East.

I read about the famous dishes of pasta brava last night before we dined here tonight. I'm so glad I chose this as my main! Thin slices of homemade pasta that has the same consistency, alongside with scallops, prawns and peppercorn in white wine & saffron cream sauce. Love this 😍 so flavorful!

A restaurant that was named after me, @biglazychop. Haha I kid! It must be some sort of freaky coincidence.

Located on the ground floor of the CSL Student Hostel along Short Street, this restaurant specialises in #zichar dishes with unique and special sauces.

For example, their XL Pork Spare Ribs come in seven different sauces: salted egg, buttermilk, coffee, citrus orange, butter champagne, citrus champagne and beer. I tried their butter champagne ribs (S$23++ for 5 ribs), and boy was it delectable. My friends can attest to how clean my ribs were after ravaging them. The pork was rather tender and fell quite easily off the bone but the highlight was definitely the thick butter champagne sauce.

The establishment has quite limited indoor seating so do make reservations. It's also closed for business on Mondays.

Thank you #biglazychop, @foodnewspr and @burpple for the finger-licking-good dinner! 😋

I have a discernible love for wanton mee with an added portion of chicken cutlet. The love was derived from my frequent visits to the wanton mee stall at my secondary school.

Unfortunately, I can't enter my school whenever I want, less I raise suspicion of being a creep. So to satisfy my inner-child cravings, I come to Tasty Treats in Far East Plaza.

This dish (S$6) isn't the best or that fantastic but it gives me the feels. The noodles were a bit congealed together but after a thorough mix with the gravy, all was A-OK. The chicken cutlet was crispy and tender while the char siew was juicy. Overall, it's a good eat in Orchard due to the generous portion and affordable price.

[NEWLY OPENED] @mexout has opened a new outlet at @313somerset called Barrio which serves a simpler but still flavour-packed menu.

It serves a whole range of savoury snacks, spicy tacos, stuffed burritos and massive Mexican sandwiches.

I had the chilli cheese burger (S$15.90++) which is stuffed with homemade smoky Mexican chili with beans, chunky guacamole topped with pico de gallo and cheese. All served up between a toasted buttered brioche bun.

I can't wait to head back for more snacks and to try the burritos!

Had the privilege of dining at Ji at Balesutra in Bali before its official launch!

The Japanese fusion concept restaurant is situated within Tugu Hotel Bali, a restored Chinese temple. When you first step in, you'll be simply awestruck by the intricate and elaborate decor of the restaurant which will make you think you've stepped in an art gallery.

If the feast for your eyes isn't enough, prepare your stomach as the food here is just as delicate and delicious. With a substantial array of dishes available, there's something for everyone. Together with the beautiful and striking cocktails, you're in for a great dinner.

My favourites include Bluefin Tuna Tataki (pictured, 60k IDR or S$6. YES SIX SING DOLLARS), Zaru Soba with Seared Scallops (80k IDR or S$8) and the US Angus Prime Tenderloin (110k IDR or S$11).

Thank you #JiAtBalesutra for welcoming us and for the cocktails!
