Probably the best "Banana Leaf" in Kuala Lumpur!

This place is packed but worth the wait. Most people would order the Vegetable Meal Set (8.50RM) then add whatever à la carte dishes to their hearts' content. The set consists of free-flow rice, assorted curries, an Indian yogurt cucumber salad, curry with potatoes and the best part, fried bitter gourd! I don't even like bitter gourd but this was so darn addictive.

With the add-ons and drinks, a meal here would just set you back < 20RM per person. #Burpproved

Let's taco 'bout awesome tacos! 🌮🌮🌮

One of my favourite dishes at Vatos Urban Tacos is its signature Baja Fish (S$11++ for 2 and S$15++ for 3) urban tacos.

Despite all the flavoursome toppings such as spicy chipotle mayo, pico de gallo salsa and apple coleslaw, the beer battered coat of the fish retains its structural integrity giving you that awesome mouthfeel hoppy grit with each bite. #Burpproved! #BurppleMessyEats

YAAAS! The week that I've been waiting for, Deliveroo's Japan week (25- 31 Jul)! During this week, enjoy set meals for two @ $25 and four @ $45!

I had the lovely unadon (S$23.54) from Nara Japanese Restaurant at Goldhill Centre! Just unboxing my delivery made me so excited. To see those two thick slices of grilled eel and sweet tamago resting on a bed of Japanese rice doused in an aromatic teriyaki sauce. There was not a single morsel in sight after my meal. The dish also comes with a bowl of miso soup to complement.

Nara Thai's new fiery additions are a hot treat.

The restaurant has introduced 14 new items to its menu. Named Bangkok Sois' Hidden Gems, these dishes are adapted from Thai classics by featuring unconventional ingredients. Among a few of my favourites is Phad Kra Pao Phunim (S$16.90++), a modified rendition of Nara Thai's bestselling Stir-fried Soft Shell Crab. It now comes with a spicy thick sauce of red chilies and hot basil.

Also, Nara Thai has a loyalty programme named Nara Rewards. For just $20, one can enjoy benefits such as a rebate of 10% on nett spend, a complimentary 1-for-1 voucher and 20% off in your birthday month! Furthermore, from now till 31 Aug, get instant $30 credit (usually $25) once you sign up on their Facebook page!

This was a tasting hosted by the restaurant. Thank you Nara Thai and Burpple for the invite! 😋

This year's Hawker Spotlight is hosted by City Gas in collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board as part of the iconic Singapore Food Festival.

Hawker Spotlight showcases different hawker centres each year and this edition, it's East Coast Lagoon Food Village!

We got a taste of five characteristically Singaporean dishes which include Curry Fish Head (Eastern Red Seafood #01-37), Popiah (Lagoon Carrot Cake #01-40), Bak Kut Teh (Han Jia Bak Kut Teh #01-42), Char Kway Teow (Choon Hiang #01-46) and Satay (Haron Satay #01-55)! The aforementioned stalls have been placed within the Top 10 for their respected dishes in the City Hawker Food Hunt Awards over the years.

Out of the five nominated stalls, my absolute favourite would be the spicy and savoury fish head curry. The couple who run the stall have been in the business for over 20 years. When asked what makes their curry so good, they cheekily reply, "our secret ingredient".

The Singapore Food Festival runs till the 31st of July! To see what other events are in store, visit www.singaporefoodfestival.com.

I'm so happy with the array of cuisines available from Deliveroo. Never have I thought that I could receive Thai food right at my doorstep.

For my meal, I ordered from Kaffir & Lime. I was impressed with the short delivery time of less than 30 minutes. My food was neatly packed and ready to eat. All my dishes, Green Curry Chicken with Rice (S$14.85), Seafood Phat Thai (S$15.90) and Mango Sticky Rice with Coconut Milk (S$7.35) were all leaning towards the sweet side. No doubt that they enhanced the flavour with sugar but I like that sometimes. The tingling jade green curry had a good amount of tender chicken. The phat thai was not dry and clumped together but steaming hot while the fried fish was still crunchy. It was simple comfort food delivered to my home.

For Deliveroo's Thai week (18-24 Jul), enjoy set meals for two @ $25 and four @ $45. I personally think I can handle the set meal for two by myself because I deserve the best. HAHA. #BYDTB #BurppleRoo

At Fat Lulu's, dessert shouldn't be an afterthought, it should be a priority.

An hour into dinner service, it's all hands on deck at the dessert bar where pastry chefs masterfully prepare their creations.

Upon the recommendation of Chef Sam, we had the "Childhood" ($16++ and cue Michael Jackson's track from Free Willy 2). It was one of the best desserts I had in a long time.

It had elements that most children would have wanted from their parents for good behaviour. Chunks of soft rich dark chocolate cookies, a more atas version of a peanut Magnum ice-cream (which I fell in love with) and a chilled blood-red raspberry granita lined with explosive popping candy.

It was not only delicious but also imaginative. It uplifted the table's spirits and invited conversations of our childhood. How aptly named. #BURPPROVED

Some people would be averse to beef tongue even without trying it. At Fat Lulu's, it's a great place to pop your beef tongue cherry!

After pan searing the beef tongue (S$16++) it undergoes a complete transformation. The tongue becomes more tender and has a brisket-/stew-like taste. The tongue is after all, a muscle just like cuts of steak, ribs and roasts.

Together with Asian ingredients like pickled ginger and Thai herbs, the dish is reminiscent of a Thai beef salad and a good one it is.

Most probably the best damn sushi in Singapore.

I don't have much to say because this place left me literally speechless. I don't mean to be crude but every time I lodged a piece of nigiri sushi in my mouth, it was orgasmic. This was the only picture of my food I took because I was enjoying my meal that much but I'll leave you to discover what dishes there are in store.

I'd recommend you come here for lunch (S$70-S$240++) so you wouldn't pay cray prices for dinner. #BURPPROVED

Couldn't do alfresco but only #aldesko as I was stuck in the office!

I had Table by Rang Mahal on my table (one of the top Indian restaurants in Singapore) by ordering from Deliveroo. Even though it was raining (primarily why I ordered in, SORRY delivery dude!), my order came promptly within the stipulated 45 duration and my Masaledar Chicken Briyani (S$26.70) was piping hot.

My colleagues with certain envy as I walked through the office with a pleasant fragrant packet of briyani. The dish wasn't the most presentable but taste wise, the basmati rice was wonderfully aromatic and fluffy even though it has been steaming in a container during the length of the trip. The tender and boneless chicken pieces were marinated in selected spices giving a little much needed kick - great to combat the chilly temperatures in the office. However, the proportion of rice to chicken was too high, I wish they had more chicken in the dish especially for the hefty price tag.

I've been super glad that I have more options to eat at work thanks to Deliveroo. This upcoming week (11-17 Jul), selected Indian food merchants will be offering 1-for-1 meals! Think about making your life easier by ordering in, because you deserve the best! #BYDTB #Burppleroo

Not for the faint of heart.

This perfectly seared medium rare slab of foie gras (S$24++) was fantastic. Together with the savoury and sweet five spice sauce, the already decadently rich foie gras makes a sinful appetiser.

In contrast with the soft semi-solid liver, the crunchiness and earthiness of the Rose apple and crushed cashews add a nice dimension to the dish. A #burpproved dish in my books.

Extremely grateful for Restaurant Ember having me over to experience its Chef's Table. The ambience was calm and sophisticated while the service was excellent, thanks to restaurant manager, Clarence, who took real good care of us through the evening.

The angel hair pasta appetiser (S$18++) was intriguing but lovely. Upon the first bite, it was unfamiliar, like exploring new territory but as you continue your tastebuds are enjoying the adventure. This is because like many of the other Asian-influenced European dishes here, they come in really unique combinations of ingredients such as the garnished sweet-starchy jicama (Mexican turnip) the umami-tasting chunks of bonito and a troop of slightly bitter shimeji mushrooms. This appetiser raised the expectations for the future courses.
