Seared Scallop And Prawn pasta with whole tiger prawns and Japanese scallops in a prawn bisque sauce ($25++). Add $1.50++ to make it gluten-free spaghetti or penne. I opted for the penne, and for gluten-free pasta standards I would say it's above average in terms of preparation, quite easy to tell it's off-the-shelf stuff. At least the pasta wasn't hard or crumbly, but it just didn't have the same springy textue as freshly made gluten-free pasta. But I'm not really complaining. It's nice to see more places that have gluten-free options.

Overall I enjoyed this dish. The prawn bisque sauce was just nice, sometimes seafood bases can be overly fishy, but this was perfect. The prawns had their shells half removed so they were really easy to eat. Plus springy scallops!!! 😍 Need I say more?!

We enjoyed 2 mains for the price of 1 here using Entertainer App. Which just meant we could spend a little more on desserts. 🤣

Truly wholesome Watercress Soup with sous-vide poached egg and served with gluten-free fried bread.

You definitely need to love your veggies and watercress to like this soup cos it has a bitter after-taste. But if you're ok with that, this rich soup has a super smooth texture with sweetness from Wolfberries, and the addition of the poached egg adds an extra comforting touch.

This is suitable for Vegetarians and is gluten-free and dairy-free too.

When dessert calls we always want to try EVERYTHING on the menu. And we did (well there were only 2 options).

This Pandan Tiramisu didn't really suit our tastebuds even though we love coffee. Maybe it was the Pandan twist. The coffee is strong, the cake a little too dense. I think I prefer my Tiramisu with more light cream. This was served with crunchy sticky caramel popcorn which can't really go wrong.

Twin towers of Octomore.

Octomore 07.1 || 208 PPM || 59.5% — really opens up with a few drops of water with cherry/fruity notes shining through. The usual smooth Octomore flavour and extremely peaty. Single malt Scotch whisky aged 5 years in bourbon casks.

Octomore 07.2 || 208PPM || 58.5% — finished in ex-Syrah wine casks from the Rhône region of France. Slightly sweeter in taste and more flavourful than 07.1. I prefer this one without water added as the taste becomes rather sharp with a few drops of H2O. I much rather this neat with the smokey flavours gradually engulfing my tastebuds.

Both have their unique points. I prefer 07.1 with water and 07.2 neat. 07.3 I prefer neat too.

07.1-07.3 conquered. Octomore is touted to be "THE WORLD'S MOST HEAVILY PEATED WHISKY SERIES".

Special menu.

Today Crackerjack had a special Piña Colada menu. I had the Piña Colada spread on toast. Which was pretty much their rendition of kaya toast served with 63 degree eggs. The buttery spread tasted like coconut and pineapple, but everything worked together well. The plain eggs could've used some sauce or flavouring cos once I finished the toast it was a little hard to finish the plain eggs. But all in all, good value at just $6.

If you're craving for carbs and something sweet, this is the dish to have at Botanist. The first time I visited the cafe, I wasn't very impressed with their Chef Menu items we tried, but after trying this, I now think that they serve at least average cafe food. This plate is without a doubt pretty, but I guess the French Toast was a bit too dry and too much for me even with the ice cream. Guess I like my French Toast soaked and creamy on the inside or at least fluffy and less dense. The berries and sauce were ok. Nothing mind blowing, but filling. I would probably order this again if I was craving something sweet, as the berries are rather refreshing. The coffee here is good. 👍

Back at Aloha Poké, this time at the newer Bugis Junction outlet.

The same good quality as per the Amoy Street outlet, I couldn't resist ordering the same combination--spicy tuna and original salmon. But this time round topped with lots more goodness like creamy avocado and pomegranate. The spicy tuna really packs a punch, so if you're not into spicy tastes, stick to the original flavour.

The medium sized bowl was pretty filling for most ladies, but we learnt, in future, we can leave out the salad to enjoy more of the rice and 🐟.

Can't wait for their next outlet to be open!

The more flavourful of the noodles at Ah Sam Cold Drink Stall. I would probably recommended this instead of the CKT. Slimey and well coated with sauce, the flavour does get a little overwhelming towards the end though, so it's best to share. Would I order this again?! 🤔 yes, if I'm not the one paying. 😅

Finally tried the much raved about CKT at Ah Sam Cold Drink Stall. Nice noodles, but slightly too oily and not flavourful enough for my liking. Could also have been cos they got my drink order wrong and the not so great service when ordering that made me less accepting of their popular dish. Is this worth a try? Yes. Is it worth $12?! Not to me.

An easy drink for someone like me who likes it a little sweet and not too overwhelming with the alcohol kick. The piece of chocolate is the perfect complement to nibble on as you sip this drink.

The Other Room is a speakeasy with its entrance well hidden as a wall in the lobby of Marriott. If it's your first visit you'll probably have to ask for directions. The interior is rather dark but casual enough for chatty outings with colleagues or friends.

Wrapped in bark and torched before serving, this otah-like dish is one of the items in Stellar's constellations set menu this season. Lightly seasoned with nori (seaweed) salt, butter and some sea fennel, this moist fish has a light smokey flavour from the torched eucalyptus paper bark.

Super wobbly Matcha Pudding from Misato, now open at The Centrepoint. We managed to try Misato when it was at The Cathay and was delighted with the presentation of the food. And of course the taste. Everything is prepared upon ordering, so that might mean a little wait, but worth it for items like the Okonomiyaki, Gyoza and dessert.
