3.5 munchies: Filled to the brim with assorted ingredients including crayfish, mussels, tiger prawns, roast pork, and enoki mushrooms, we picked the home-made tom yum broth that came with a fiery kick! There was also a good balance of sour and sweet flavours, with fragrant spices and herbs used. I’d recommend you to add the mama instant noodles that had a bouncy texture. #Burpproved

The big pot featured here, which feeds 3-4 people, is priced at $68.80; regular pot feeds 2 at $38.80. This was a hosted meal by Soi Thai Soi Nice.

Still doing your last-minute shopping for Chinese New Year goodies? Look no further than Old Seng Choong's cookies that take their inspiration from our local heritage and flavours.

Out of the 4 'Editions' (Lion City, Kampong Spirit, Colonial Days & Festive Blooms) that the cookies have been conceptualised in, my favourite has got to be Kampong Spirit. Under this edition, my top 2 picks are the Cereal Prawn Cookies and Bak Kut Teh Cookies. Because the flavours were so spot on, they’d also make great souvenirs when I visit my overseas friends! #Burpproved

Many thanks to Sixth Sense PR for the invitation to the media launch of Old Seng Choong’s flagship store at The Central!

4 munchies: Pan-fried to golden brown, the exterior of the cod fish had a nice caramelisation and the meat inside remained flaky and tender-firm. The Huaiyang dish is served with a green purée made from spring onion, soy sauce, and ginger, giving the mild-sweet fish a punch of bright and pungent flavour. I’d highly recommend the Tobiko Egg White Fried Rice with Crab Meat and Scallop to go with it! #Burpproved

4 munchies: Succulent slices of kurobuta (Berkshire hog) pan-fried in a sweet and sour sauce that was tangy, tart, and smoky. The wok hei was also strong in this dish, which makes a perfect pairing with a bowl of piping hot steamed white rice. But what was even better was I had it with Wan He Lou’s signature Lobster Porridge! #Burpproved

4.5 munchies: While Peperoni Pizzeria prides on its XXL size pizzas, this Baked Seafood Misto, which is relatively new on the menu, is THE item you ought to go for. Seafood lovers like me would definitely enjoy the assortment of seasonal fresh fish (we got barramundi, yay!), tiger prawns, squid, and venus clams. What absolutely smashed it was the umami, buttery broth infused with natural sweetness from all the seafood goodness. Give me some toasted bread to soak up the juices and I’d be in seventh heaven!

4 munchies: Did you know that no milk was added to this bowl of fish soup? The boiling of fried fish bones, dried anchovies, ginger, and other ingredients for several hours was the result of the rich, umami, and almost creamy soup stock. The $4.50 bowl might come with a decent portion of fresh sliced fish, but I’d highly recommend the $5 top-up for its premium fish belly for an extra treat! #Burpproved #BurppleChinatown

3.5 munchies: Featuring one of the new brunch items on The Coffee Academics Singapore’s à la carte menu, the classic Eggs Benedict has been given a spin by topping the poached eggs with honey lemon guacamole sauce. The splash of acidity from the lemon juice not only offset the sweetness of honey, but also balanced the richness of the avocado. Prosciutto di Parma – prized for its sweet, slightly nutty flavours and silky texture – was served on toasted English muffins. It also came with a side of fresh seasonal greens.
