mom has been raving abt this waffle & she finally brought back some for us to try!! its sooo good šŸ˜ when it was warm it was crispy but okay, but when it cooled down it turn super chewy & squishy & i actually prefer it this way! the kaya used is also really good, eggy & coconutty & RICH (which in malay is called kaya hehe learnt this in class) so u know its doing its job right. this is one of the best local waffles ive tried, maybe the best even. ā¤ļø

bro this tsp is so expensiveā€¦ but itā€™s so goodā€¦ the tau sa is sweet yet salty which i love (swalty combos are the best), coupled with the egg yolk (savoury, flakey) and the flakey pastry skinā€¦ its chefs kiss šŸ’‹ nothing much to say lol just go get this to try. wish this can be a permanent menu šŸ˜šŸ˜

i was so glad i decided to get plain instead of kaya in the end bc this waffle is already sweet, its even a little too sweet on its own. put spread even worse sia. but it was really fragrant! thereā€™s a strong coconut milk & pandan flavour, basically a kaya flavoured plain waffle. texture wise its more on the crispy side although it wasnt crispy (think belgian waffle) i was hoping when it cooled down it would soften and be like kueh then i can have best of both worlds but sadly after it cooled down it had the same texture, just slightly more lao hong. not the best waffles ive tasted but its good enough if thereā€™s no other better option around

pls excuse the fact that it looks squashed it was round when i got it but somehow otw home it must have gotten squashed. as all the roti boys that ive tried before all tasted the same i was also expecting that taste for this. i have not craved roti boy in a looong time bc itā€™s just sweet coffee and butter & usually tastes quite artificial. but yesterday i suddenly craved it so i got it to satisfy the craving since its so tiny (four leavesā€™ mini series is my fav thing ever) and today when i bit into it i was: SHOOK. at the first bite you can already taste a mild bitterness, which is rare for coffee flavoured food. then as you continue biting you will be able to taste the nice harmony of mild bitterness & not too sweet coffee. go further in and youā€™ll get the buttery center too. the butter wasnā€™t too oily & overwhelming, it was also just nice which complements the coffeeā€™s taste. seeing that four leaves is a bread chain, i didnt expect them to surprise me like that, i thought their bakes are the typical usual kind but this coffee bun just changed my opinion. (also i guess the four leaves chain DOES produce phenomenal goods seeing that they also produced the viral green tea bun fr st. leaven) four leaves is one of my favourite bakeries in sg bc of how accessible they are & bc of the quality & flavours of their bakes. this coffee bun just added more points for me now! now i know where to go when my roti boy craving suddenly strikes ;)

wow. when i first bit into this i was pleasantly surprised. itā€™s literally the taste of my singaporean childhood. this tastes nothing like brown sugar lol but it tastes like the huat kueh that my waipo used to make when i was younger! wish it was less sweet but yeah, worth a try but it was kinda strange getting local tastes from four leaves which sell more ang mor/japanese style stuff haha wouldnt get this again probably but it was worth a post!! also its a really dense cake not fluffy and airy like the steamed cake im used toā€¦ basically huat kueh lah

the egg roll. something so simple and homemade tasting, but so satisfying. the crepe is so soft & mildly sweet which complements the egg & the star of the show, the pork floss. the pork flossā€™s flavour was really outstanding (sweet, porky) so yea u mostly taste that but u can also taste the crepe & egg tho they r more lowkey. the sauce is v salty so make sure to put on a little at a time.

what i love about 8 degreeā€™s is that thereā€™s more meat to pork fat (while elsewhere has more fat than meat), whichā€¦ idk i guess is a bad thing if you want to eat the pork fat but for me its a good thing bc i dont like the taste of pork fat HAHA. so 8 degreeā€™s is the closest i can get to having pork meat with the wonderful å¤ę±. i just love lu rou fan so much recently, thereā€™s a simple charm to it that makes me want more and more. its a pity its 70% pork fat most of the time lol i wish its pork slices/minced meat insteadā€¦ we also got tang xin egg which is like ur ramen egg basically & scallion oil chicken rice (unpictured). these r also my favs to get here! the scallion oil rice is wonderful too, the sauce is sweet and it makes just eating rice alone nice too. the chicken is slightly tough but its ok cos the sauce carries the rice bowl.

ould only find 2 reviews on this on the net but i decided to take the risk & try her out bc i couldnā€™t stop thinking about her (also bc im getting sick of bun-shaped bread so i thought i should get my yam bread cravings satisfied through a loaf this time) and oh. my. god. this bread is amazing. the bread is so soft & fluffy, and is already nice to eat on its own, but the taro included inside + the almond flakes at the top just elevates the taste šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ the taro is slightly sweet but still good & natural tasting, & although thereā€™s v little taro per slice i still felt satisfied?? idk probably bc the white bread is good too so im just satisfied with the entire thing hehe. the almond flakes add a fragrant nuttiness to the bread!! glad i took the risk (this is why i like taking risks sometimes, life just surprises you like that) & ill defo buy this again in future <3

lol accidentally typed polo egg fart. anyway this is a really dense & heavy bread. if you flip it around youā€™ll see soggy polo crust :D the egg custard is like that of an egg tart, but itā€™s too sweet :( the custard & bread both are too sweet so itā€™s not as enjoyable to eat. would have been perfect if it was at a comfortable sweetness level because egg custard with bread and polo is actually a nice & unique combinationā€¦
