wow. when i first bit into this i was pleasantly surprised. it’s literally the taste of my singaporean childhood. this tastes nothing like brown sugar lol but it tastes like the huat kueh that my waipo used to make when i was younger! wish it was less sweet but yeah, worth a try but it was kinda strange getting local tastes from four leaves which sell more ang mor/japanese style stuff haha wouldnt get this again probably but it was worth a post!! also its a really dense cake not fluffy and airy like the steamed cake im used to… basically huat kueh lah
Ordered this via Grab food and it came to me at room temperature. The cake was soft and dense, just how I like my cake to be. The kaya filling is the same as the one used in their toast. They gave a lot of filling so I was finally able to taste their kaya (couldn’t taste it in their toast as the layer was too thin). The kaya was very coconutty and mildly sweet which went super well with the fragrant pandan cake. I just wish the kaya wasn’t so grainy. The cake had a strong pandan fragrance too! Would recommend trying this.
