Worth it with the burpple 1-for-1, the price for this was $7.60 (in total!). Mushroom soup was not overly rich/ too creamy or jelat. The veggie soup was also very healthy yet flavourful. Love the addition of the breadcrumb and the pasta as well.
Available 1-for-1 on Burpple, the set also contains a miso soup (which was not overly salty!! i love!) and a free drink. Anyway, don't be fooled by the seemingly small bowl, it is very filling. The truffle taste was strong and the richness made it filling. Onsen egg was cooked well, the fish skin snack added a crunchy texture, and the mushrooms (combined with truffle oil especially) were amazing. It's a combination of the perfect ingredients, and I will be back again.
Prices have increased from last year, and for a weekend/PH (irrespective of lunch/dinner) it's $25.80+++ but still worth the money. The quality of ingredients is good, sufficient variety, free flow drinks. The way food was served (raw meats placed in separate "containers", the rest + veg consolidated on one big plate) was very sanitary as well. Service was good with the staff constantly checking in if anything was needed. Will be back again!
Don't sleep on this. In fact I don't know any other place that does 炒笋粿 in a carrot cake style. I must say this is really awesome for several reasons. 1. the soon kueh skin has a really QQ texture and in large pieces so you can happily chew on it. 2. extra aroma from the black sauce and the oil 3. more flavours with the egg and the radish.
One of their warm soba selections, this features ingredients like bonito flakes, mushrooms, seaweed, grated radish, vegetables. The picked plum was quite interesting. A very good meal, not too salty (in fact, they offer plain broth to those who find their noodles too salty). There's a huge variety of dishes, will be back for more.
I'm no ice cream expert but I can tell that the quality of the ice cream is really good. A wide variety of unique flavours, flavours were authentic and really came through. For gelato, it's not so heavy on the cream (which most places are), and therefore not so jelat. There is more focus on flavor.
The waffle cone itself was very crispy, not too thick (which i liked). It's also a smart move to make the waffles in front of everyone, where everyone can see, and smell the fragrance of the waffles. And trust me, you can't get there anywhere else.
Ice-cream was pretty good quality, and there are a variety to choose from. However, found the waffles to be quite meh. It's alright, crispy enough (though can be more crispy), and it definitely isn't the most fragrant. It's a good cafe to chill at, with friendly staff as well, but that's after the covid situation improved.
French toast was good, soft and fluffy. Homemade kaya was also pretty good as well, not too sweet. Their kaya toast is also quite crispy. Overall it's not bad if you're in the area, else there's no need to travel for this.
Probably the signature dish of BSK, the beef wellington at $80++ is pricey but worth a try. Good for 1-2 people, if 2 then i'd suggest buying additional food items to share.
The beef was cooked perfectly, juicy and tender, and I'm very impressed with the side dishes as well. Just look at the glazed carrots, and the mashed potato was so smooth. The pastry surrounding the beef wasn't so crusty, more of the soft thin kind. Personally, I feel it's a good combination. A bit pricey, but definitely worth the experience.
Pictured is a triple-scoop with the top being Earl Grey Tie Guan Yin flavour. The quality is really good. Smooth yet not overly sweet. This one had more of the Tie Guan Yin taste and the Earl Grey kicked in later. They have other flavours too, all are worth trying as they are a twist to the usual flavours and also local-inspired.
Very underrated place, murtabak is tasty and the curry is good. The place is a little small but well-maintained and clean.
This place specialises in jaffles - toasties is the closest word to describe it. Pictured is the Nice To Meat You, which comprises of ingredients like beef peperoni, pork chorizo, chipotle mayo, poached egg and salad greens. It's a classic yet failproof combination, loved the way the bread was toasted, and ingredients were generous as well. Probably won't get at original price, but with Burpple's 1-for-1, then yes definitely. Cozy environment as well!
