Where in the city centre whereby you can experience dining alone and also dining together with another person? Well that answer is Aori Ramen! It’s actually a concept which is quite similar in concept to the famous ramen place in Japan; Ichiran! This place is opened quite long ago but when it was newly opened the reception was massive with endless queues that could stretch on for days! Finally, I had the chance to try out and the service was quite prompt but it lacks the Japanese warm yet noisy welcome you would usually get! Then the seating was just packed and they didn’t really give the feeling of having it alone.. The menu was really straightforward but rather steep for its price.. I had the Don Kotz Ramen with 5 toppings (RM35) that has a rather small portion and the chashu pork slice wasn’t really generous.. The noodles was rather mediocre and the broth was quite clear and simple to me; it wasn’t very flavourful or in depth with enormous porky flavour..
The Shoppes By Four Seasons KL is such a quaint little shopping mall that truly has it all! They have a level which excites every foodie from its wealth of choice in the fresh produce section that is covered with magnificent looking red meats of every imaginable cut to the aromatic and creative creation of pizza and the never ending wine section that just delights every wine connoisseur! In all of its tantalising choices, there is a beautiful shop that caters the sweet tooth at heart which is Decadent by Four Seasons.. The shop exudes a very Marie Antoinette feeling that makes you want to reach out for another macaroon! They have every dessert imaginable and not to forget delicious freshly brewed coffee! I had the Raspberry & White chocolate tart which it’s beauty is just exquisite but the balance of sweetness and tartness is still quite far fetch..
In a bustling mall that constantly fills with human being walking around and having fun, nestled a small eatery which focuses on Chinese refreshing dessert be it local favourites or experimental creations that surely whets your appetite for it! It mainly focuses more of the HK inspired desserts but you do get some desserts that focuses on your well being and vitality! How amazing is that! So we ordered a Lemongrass Jelly (RM8.90) which is a healthy and refreshing sundae filled with a refreshing and full whack of lemongrass flavour of a jelly that is truly refreshing and not sweet that pairs well with the cubes of sweet, juicy and ripe mango together with the crunchy purple dragon fruit! It is a perfect dessert to have for 1 or when you are feeling the heat!
“I think of music as creating a space. I like to put things in that are comforting to me and are nostalgic. To me, that’s what sampling does in songs; it’s making deeper layers for people who know where it comes from, but also referencing another part of my history and my memory or a memory that I have.”- Jamilla Woods
Trying out an Islay Single malt whisky tasting which has a rather reserved yet smokey notes that is slightly aggressive for the 8 year old which is best to enjoy it with either a clear ice cube or a drop of water to help in open up its other dried fruits and sweet baking spices but it gets better with the 10year old which exudes a more umami together with smoky and slight sweetness.. The most enjoyable whisky from Laphroaig is the Quarter Cask as it has an attractive aroma that just reminds you of a Christmas cake with the sweet baking spices accompanied by a hint of dark chocolate and slight sweetness from toffee! Quite surprised being that it is the most full bodied and austere peppered with a hint of tobacco and smoky notes amongst them all!
In my adventures to the land of Merlions and fascinating architectural masterpieces came a quaint little cafe which exudes a very laid back vibe that just what makes Singapore an amazing city that just able to balance between the influences of the yesteryear and the modern and nouveau architecture.. This beautiful cafe has an amazing, warm and inviting feel to it with its comfy furnitures and the large spaces that was cleverly decorated with beautiful artwork and yummy displays of goodies! They also have an attractive coffee sections which shows that they are a coffee master with the endless display of gadgets and all the appropriate apparatus to craft a great cuppa! The service crew is really friendly and attentive! Their menu is really interesting from their beverages to the food creations! What caught my eye was their selection of teas especially the Chinese and also the brunch options. Finally, I settled on the Crabcake ($19.50) which comprises of a fried crab cake that is laid below with a beautiful ensemble of peppery and bitter arugula together with a sweet yet crunchy purple sweet potato mayo slaw and the cherry on top of the cake would be that gorgeous yet glistening pan fried sous vide egg all on top of a sturdy yet fluffy toasted brioche! It was a fantastic sight to behold! And thankfully it wasn’t hard to deconstruct them as you can either eat them piece by piece or have a go at it together! The textures of each element eaten together does wonders to your tongue actually with the crispy texture of the crab with the sour tang from the slaw that brought out the zing to the crab cake! The egg was done perfectly as you cut it open, the yolk would just oozes out seductively on the crab cake providing some umami taste to it! A must try and also not to forget their Sea salt chocolate ($6.90) a drink that you mustn’t skip!
Salon du chocolate is the latest addition to the evergrowing chocolate scene that first to open in publika! This place has always been on my radar when it comes to chocolate enjoyment as they boast to have an amazing selection of chocolate choices which you can have as a fondue or in their fantastic dessert creations.. The ambience is really relaxing with comfy furniture and a warm service from their friendly servers.. I had their Salon tart (RM19) which is a tart filled with layers of white and milk chocolate and surrounded with juicy and ripe strawberries! The tart has a very hard outer shell which is just too hard to eat let alone cut.. Then the combination of chocolates doesn’t do much to the overall tart enjoyment as it just gave a very weird taste combination.. overall eating experience was rather disappointing
Mango is a fan favourite for every Hong Kong people!! And they truly express their love for this fruit with endless creativity of mango inspired desserts! There’s a little dessert parlour which has an amazing array of mango desserts that just made your decision even harder as everything looks delicious! Finally we settled on a warm mango crumble which requires a waiting time of 20 minutes. The wait is totally worth it as the crumble is warm yet retains the smooth and meaty texture of the mango with a crumbly yet nutty texture from the dough.. finally it was topped off with a cooling yet creamy vanilla ice cream
How does happiness manifest to you? Well happiness manifest itself in the form of a bowl of hot yet warming bowl of minced beef noodles with a side of sliced beef soup! The best place to have such a humble bowl of noodle is located in KL town called Soong Kee and it is quite noticeable and a household name for all KL-ites as this is the place to be to enjoy that bouncy noodle of minced beef and the perfectly cooked beef strips but you can opt for the beef ball instead if you aren’t a fan of the strips..

The Western Australia has always been blessed with incredible Maritime climate and weather along with it's picturesque views of the ocean that makes it the ideal place to craft a Bordeaux Blend varietal wines!
The Bartondale Cabernet Sauvignon is a rare find in it's style as the winemaker of Churchview took the inspiration from the famous Bordeaux Blend which is the most sought after style as its gives the wine a full bodied finish alongside some medium range acidity accompanied by the dark chocolates and dark fruits be it ripe and juicy or sun dried and intense and with time in the barrel aging will help the wine to evolve into a wine that is bursting with elegance, roasted coffee aromas, violet, leathery notes and sweet baking spices! It's a fantastic wine to go along with roasts or red meats! #afoodiesaffair #sommelier #australianwines #margaretriverwine #bordeauxblend #burpple

Japanese cuisine never cease to amaze you as it always educates you on their regional cuisine that not only reserves to Sushi, sashimi or teppanyaki! In one of the restaurants located on the 4th floor of the Isetan Japan Store in Lot 10, there lies a yakitori restaurant which specialize all those quaint little gems of the Japanese cuisine which is truly rare to find in KL! So in this restaurant, I had the pleasure in trying out their specialty; Unagi and egg rice (RM50) with a side of soup.. it may seem very simple but there is a method to enjoy this little bowl of unagi. First you have to separate a portion of the rice alongside a piece of unagi with a piece of the egg blanket and then you pour a portion of the soup into the bowl which contains the mentioned components.. from there you can start enjoying it, the style of enjoying it does sounds familiar to a Ochazuke style but Ochazuke is mainly the tea broth is steeped into the bowl of rice without individually portioning it.. Surprisingly, the soup goes well with the sticky sweet and salty unagi together with the blanket texture of the umami egg!

A great St Helga Riesling that exudes ripe and juicy peaches, apricot, honey suckle flowers and very perfume like aromas alongside the medium yet refreshing acidity that just made it such a perfect aperitif wines for a lunch wine!
