There's just something about their fries..... It's really really really nice. I was swaying between ordering this or their truffle fries but I've been having truffle fries at practically every cafe so time for something new! A super sinful dish but worth the calories!

I've been wanting to try Lola's Cafe for such a long time but because of its purple-line location.....I hesitated. Last Saturday, I finally visited this place and settled my Saturday brunch with my mum. We didn't have to wait for too long considering how it was a Saturday.. I just found it a bit strange that they had two separate units side by side and the service staff have to walk and pass through doors just to serve coffee. I've heard a lot about the pasta dishes but I was so disappointed when I realized that was a dinner item :( Nevertheless, we ordered Lola's specialities like the Honey Paprika Wings, Breakfast Croissant, Nacho Cheese Fries and a cup of iced cappuccino. I overestimated myself when I ordered the Breakfast Croissant because I expected it to be a standard croissant size (which wasn't going to be enough because I was soooo hungry). It turned out to be sooooooooo huge and filling I felt like I was stuffing myself and forcing myself to finish. It looked really good and the scrambled eggs were fluffy yet creamy and not too salty. The croissant was still crispy and when I sank my mouth in, the only thing that bothered me was this sweet sauce from the croissant. I'm not really a fan of sweet things and I realized it came from the honey mayo and honey bacon inside. It would have been perfect if there wasn't honey mayo, so it's something I'll opt out for the next time I return :)

Have an intimate catch up session with a friend at this cosy space along Petain Road while sinking your teeth into some freshly made pastries. Set up by two sisters, Ollella specialises in choux — making it a must to order at least one of the seven choux flavours available. For two girlfriends, share the Mini Choux Platter ($21) that comes with seven mini choux, one of every flavour. Each choux has its own distinct filling — the Apple Cinnamon has sweet apple chunks while the Tiramisu has a luscious, alcoholic cream.

By the same people behind Assembly Coffee comes Atlas Coffeehouse, an expansive, lofty Bukit Timah cafe decked out in marbled tiles and deep sea blue walls. Great for both quick coffee runs and long, lazy brunches, sail by for a Flat White ($4.50) and start the day with a relaxing read by the window bar. For brunch, get the ATLAS Super-Bowl ($17), a healthy yet tasty grain bowl filled with toasted quinoa, roasted squash and zucchini and tender peanut sesame pulled chicken. For more classic brunch flavours, go for the Creamy Mushrooms on Sourdough ($12) — a generous heap of mushrooms cooked with a splash of white wine and sundried tomatoes, which you must pair with the silky smooth Scrambled Eggs ($3 for add on). For dessert, we favour the Mixed Berries Compote Waffles ($12.50) over the pancakes — they are similar in taste but the former is lighter and more affordable. Pro-tip: It gets a little crowded at lunch time, so it's best to pop by around 11am.

Avg price: $25 per person

Best matcha I've had in Singapore. None of that artificially sweetened nonsense.

Enjoyed scoops of Golden Vanilla and Thai Milk Tea ($4.20 per scoop) ice-cream atop one of the nicest waffles ($6) I've had. Just the right amount of crisp and flavour for me! Golden Vanilla had great flavour and texture while the Thai Milk Tea was a little 'icy' (not as creamy/you know what I mean). Definitely worth a try! The place has really nice ambience and my friend very much enjoyed the coffee served.

The lobster broth played like an imperial relative of your prawn mee broth, whilst the gentle spicy miso kept the proceedings from venturing too deeply into the Atlantic Ocean. Elsewhere, the molten egg was seventy-two sorts of amazing, the pork belly kept his fatty and lean selves strictly separate, the black pepper wanton may need to refill his Bio-Essence Face Lifting Cream subscription and the prawn balls had more romantic mushiness than a Nicholas Sparks novel. 4.1/5

One level up from the classic cinnamon sugar-powdered fritters, Mr Churro’s Nutty Churro is topped with chocolate sauce, and then sprinkled generously with peanuts and almonds. The artisanal churros kiosk prepares their churros upon order so expect some waiting time but freshly-made pastries are the best. Deep fried to give it the signature golden brown crust, their dough fritters are crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Not too jelat or sweet, the evenly cut churros tasted pretty good and remained crispy after my long phototaking session.

The Oreo gives the crushed ice and ice cream a lovely crunchy texture. 😍 Otherwise, it'd be a perfectly normal Bingsoo. 😏😉 Not too sweet, pretty average. The ambience though. Perfect to chill and relax on a lazy day. 👍

What a delicious treat – warm and sticky, yet soft, mochi on a toasty Belgian waffle, topped with roasted soybean powder and sliced almonds. It's all quite dense in the mouth, but so satisfying.

Dutch-baby pancakes in a hawker centre? And a pretty enjoyable one at that! Soft, eggy with crisped sides, loved that the Lemony Mixed Berries wasn't too sweet with macerated berries, lemon curd and strawberry ice cream. ($9)

Anytime for light and balanced swiss rolls.
Joining the ranks of the popular matcha and thai milk tea flavour is coffee swiss roll; rich in coffee fragrant and ended off with a bitter sweet note.
