Discovered this gem at Public Garden market. $7.80 - moist and chocolatey!!! Gonna visit the bakery when I have lectures and try other flavours (eyeing the lavender lemon, and their matcha cookies!)
Wonder where can I get Pistachio ice cream other than Haato, Udders and Creamier. I was just told Alfero has one of the best Pistachio gelato in Singapore. Shall try that one day!
So I popped by for a quiet lunch on my own earlier today and as I was taking photos of my glorious French toast like any conscientious, diligent Burppler/iPhotograher/food-obsessed Instagrammer would, these two girls sitting right next to me started talking in no hushed tones about what they think of people who take photos of their food. Obviously their condescending comments were meant to be heard by me, though I merely brushed off their grating ABC accents (only applicable to them because of what they were saying) as I would mosquitoes buzzing in my ear, and went on to enjoy what I had come for: the food. Seriously, people who love to eat (and take photos of our nosh) are the best people ever cos we really don't give a shit about anything except having a good meal and posting pretty photos depicting it.
And thankfully this triplet of fluffy brioche covered in egg was such heaven to my tastebuds, a slab of luscious hazelnut butter melding seamlessly with the lashings of syrup lavishly poured over soft poached apples and smoky back bacon.
Ahhhh, too blessed to be stressed by meaningless fools.
The panna cotta is rich and creamy, and firm but melts in the mouth. Topped with lots of vanilla bean, a tangy berry compote and crushed almonds, this classic offering had texture, taste and I'm loving the rustic presentation.
31.12.2014 \\ Winding down the afternoon with a cup of flat white and a unique slice of cake. Grape Vitagen cake with peanut butter in the centre tastes weird at first but I guess this combination was inspired from peanut butter jelly sandwich. The cake smells very fragrant though, most probably from the Grape Vitagen.
Chewy, springy, pock-marked crumpets generously drizzled with homemade lemon curd – a hit with its well-balanced sweet and zesty flavour. Finish with a cup of tea in true English style.
N is for Nutella! Featuring my favourite crodo of the lot. It was deliciously oozy, though I didn't warm it :) Crodo stayed crisp and light, despite holding a reservoir of yummy chocolate goo.
Very rich alcoholic flavours that was well-complimented by sweetness from the sticky honeycomb. Great treat on a sunny weekend morning!
Honeycomb with soft serve is a big thing these days, but Beegurt has its own twist by using Froyo than soft serve ice-cream. The result? Scoops of sour blends with that honey for some natural sweetness. There is a choice of two toppings; I chose Digestive crumbles and marshmallows, but you can also choose amongst nuts, cereal and even fruits if you fancy!
Club Meatballs is Sarnie's latest venture right after The Lokal. Taking on a meatball-centric focus, they offer a variety of meatballs of different meats, from standard ones such as Wagyu Beef to quirky ones such as Salmon & Coriander. Menu varies for lunch and dinner; lunch sees subs, wraps and salads on the menu, while dinner sees a mix and match of carbs, proteins and greens. As per everything offered at The Lokal, expect everything to be made from scratch, from the meatballs all the way down to the sauces. Sarnies affiliation with Club Meatballs would somewhat guarantee the quality of the food served here; a spot that would be worth a shot for lunch for the office workers around the area.
The usual poison ($4.80) and pastry dessert ($7.90) at the tiny WORKSHOP, a cozy coffee and sake bar located within the neighborhood of Bukit Merah (close to Alexandra Village Food Centre). Almond tart shell filled with 3 whole lychees, which was discerning tasty to my sweet tooth. Workshop is from the same team that brought to you The Flying Squirrel.
Just a good cup of coffee for a rainy day. Although service can be a little slow, I love the dedication that goes into each cup of coffee. I ordered the sidamo guji brew that had floral and lychee hints. 😪 The weekends are finally here. Such a great way to end the work week.
