Located at the corner of Bugis Junction, this non-air conditioned shop is a great alternative to Toast Box for a light bite. The brainchild of Chef Benny and sister outlet to Eighteen Chefs, Seng Kee The Black Seed serves local breakfast fare all day. Swing by in the morning or after lunch to grab a Kopi (from $2.60) or for an extra boost, try the Kopi Guyu (from $3) β€” black coffee with a shot of butter. Feeling hungry? Wolf down a plate of Chee Cheong Fun with Sambal Belacan ($3.20) or have a Kaya Butter Set ($6) β€” expect generously slathered, velvety smooth kaya and a slice of butter between two lightly toasted pieces of crusty Ciabatta or Focaccia bread. It is served with two perfectly wobbly 63Β°C sous vide eggs.
Avg price: $5 per person

Nothing uh-mayzing. It kinda takes like Dean & Deluca's cake without the frosting. Each layer is a different flavor blue for blueberries, yellow for lemon etc. At $1.80 a piece, I wouldn't mind having some of this during family events. #marshmunch #burpple

Paddlepop Cheesecake, $7.50- interesting with soft tart base, Ice Thai Milk Tea, $3.50- just nice, Hot Hazelnut Latte, $5.20- not too sweet and not diluted. I will go back again!

The Hello Kitty Drink ("HKD") of choice for all fellow aspiring mixologists as well as pipette-loving and litmus-testing chemical brothers out there. (For those who want a naughty alcoholic variant, there's Manhattan Bar's "Aviation" cocktail.)

I got to know this little quaint coffee place a year ago when I used to work around this place. And this time, I brought a friend along for breakfast. Food set was same old same old. What sets them apart from other cafes were the eclectic mix of butter cream cakes, cookies and scones, which I thought was really nice. I really like the Aloe Vera cake while many prefer the Lemon one. However, this time I was rather disappointed this time round as the staff kept clearing our plates each time we finished off something. Each meal to me, is something one should be able to enjoy. Having to have no one at the cafe, I felt that there wasnt a need to keep clearing our plates. There are many cafes to go to these days and what keeps customers coming back is your service and some smiles. So, put that good service back and oh, doesn't hurt to just give some smiles at the counter, coz it's morning!

$12, interesting flavored waffle. i chose triple C for the ice cream- (i think its chocolate, caramel, cookie??) yeah but you can test samples before deciding.

Set in the foyer of The Working Capitol, this cosy cafe serves up crepes and coffee in a spacious, quiet environment β€” perfect for a light meal with a good book, a business meeting, or getting some work done. If you're here for dessert, go straight for sweet crepes like Yuzu Butter ($12), served with Yuzu-infused Bordier butter and sugar, or the Chocolate ($12), served with chocolate pearls and Valrhona chocolate sauce. For something savoury, try a galette (unlike crepes, this is made with buckwheat flour). The Smoked Salmon ($18) with Scottish smoked salmon, capers, a crumbled hardboiled egg and homemade creme fraiche is a tasty choice. The coffee (from $3.50), made with Papa Palheta coffee beans, is a good option if you're in need of a caffeine hit, but the interesting Homemade Ginger Beer with Honey ($7) with its punchy ginger flavour will instantly lift your spirits!

Featuring my favourite eggporn act with Tonkotsu Spirit ($16) - Japanese aburi cha shu, melted cheddar toast, smashed avocado and poached eggs. WHHAAAATT, ABURI CHA SHU! The thinly sliced pork belly was laid on top of the cheddar toast and the cha shu simply melts in your mouth.
Remember to mix the poached egg, cha shu, avocado and cheddar toast at 1 go, because I accidentally ate the egg on its own and it was kind of bland. Probably explains that the aburi cha shu is the highlight to enhance the overall flavour 😁

Somehow I prefer the cuts at sushi bar. It is somewhat inconsistent here, unlike other places where you get a certain size. And also this time I sat at the bar, I noticed that the guy arranging the fish on the bowls handled the fish and the carbon order copies with his hands (with gloves on). Oh well, probably not so excited to come back again..
