Sangas & coffee morning! East side still going strong with another new cafe replacing Stamping Ground Coffee.

Interesting selection of beans for drip coffee, though the menu seems lacklustre with Sangas aka Sandwiches like Tonkatsu, Grilled Mushroom & Eggplant and PB & Strawberry Basil.

The only sweet item on the menu, PB & Strawberry Basil ($15) might be a hit-or-miss item. Chunky PB with housemade strawberry basil jam, if you’re not a fan of basil then skip this.

A filling option, Tonkatsu ($18) is made of Pork belly Katsu with the iceberg. Paired with housemade daikon & zucchini pickle, it helps to cut through the greasiness.

Not worth the calories. While there are good memories of the food in their Taiwan outlet, the one in Singapore has lousy food and services. A place to check out for supper if you have no place to go to.

The kitchen looks quite dirty as compared to the dining area with pots and pans lying askew.

Soya bean drink served in a plastic cup with cracks that it was leaking. While Lu Rou Fan was one of the worst I had. The only saving grace might be their You Tiao with Mochi. Super oily and stale, but the Mochi is a nice balance to the crunch.

Served in individual portions, it is a bowl packed with nutritious value. The highlight will be Yunnan’s fermented solo clove black garlic which gives the clear soup a natural sweetness.

Back at One-Ninety for Chef Audrey’s Single Origin Dark Chocolate SoufflĂ© with Darjeeling Ice Cream.

Dark and intense yet has a light and custardy texture, the chocolate soufflé is a showstopper of a dessert. Darjeeling ice cream paired with the chocolaty dessert is brilliant, as it intertwines flavour and texture.

FATCAT’s second enclave is just a short walk from Kovan MRT!

Taking on a much brighter tone, this outlet has 18 flavours on display with pints and ice cream cakes for takeaway. Expect to find unique flavours such as Butter Beer (yes, for you Potter-heads), Smoked Oolong & Seasalt Matcha.

Went for their Hokkaido Milk with seasonal Blackforest. Imagine creamy fresh milk ice cream with decadent 70% dark chocolate and cherry jam, it’s a harmonious balance of flavours. But for the purist, nothing hits the spot like a nutty sweet Pistachio.

Impressive petit gĂąteau as Alice Boulangerie launched the CNY Festive Box made up of two special treats - The Empress Fan & Ong Lai.

The fan-shaped dessert is made of layers of smooth vanilla and mandarin orange sandwiched between trocadĂ©ro sponges. Encased in hand-painted chocolate decor, it is a piece that’s too beautiful to be eaten.

And what’s CNY without pineapple tart? Tropical flavours as it combines coconut mousse filled with honey pineapple compote, peanut dacquoise, and a mango glaze finishing.

Other signature items worth checking out include their Yuzu Tart & Champagne Ispahan.
