A lovely Italian place hidden in Siglap that is always packed with patrons, really loved the cozy and friendly vibe. Opted for the homemade semolina pasta ($28) - didnβt fancy the texture but the truffle mushroom paste with their homemade sausage was well reduced to a thick, creamy paste packed with flavours ππ»
Potato bed fried in beef fat, topped w fresh tartare and caviar ($20++) oh you are such a tease, Burnt Ends you lit β€οΈβ€οΈ
Second time back at LUKA and still loving this place! This contemporary Italian dining place has a chill vibe and serves affordable, quality food. Their Sotong ($16) is grilled just done served in umami squid ink and hot tomato sauce (which kinda tasted like sriracha). I was mopping the plate clean w the pieces of bread/salad. Donβt forget to order their pizza too! Fire up that sinful pie in firewood brick oven π₯π₯
Got the Iberico Pork ($68++ 3 courses) and this was prolly the only highlight β tender, medium done slices topped w its own jus, served w creamy polenta. Service was average and food was a bit unexciting overall, but a picturesque place!
After a long hiatus, former Ember Chef is back in action w casual dining at CBD! The restaurant adopted a tapas concept for their menu and I thought the dishes were a lil unoriginal - duck confit, hand cut pasta w ragout, angel hair w ebi, etc. Despite that, we were really pleased w our dinner that night! Every single dish was done well. Loved the Foie Gras Mousse ($12) rich, buttery, creamy (!!) and delicate hint of liver flavour. I would eat it as an ice cream π
How to have Nasi Lemak without the Nasi??? At SG McDonald's you can! I actually enjoyed this rendition of the local fav dish; one bite of the burger ($6) and coconut aroma from the extra crispy fried chicken patty fills up your whole mouth, plus the must-have fried egg, sambal and cucumber. Kudos for the innovation, McDees! π
Since it's International Ice Cream day, I'll dedicate this post to the best ice cream I've had thus far -- Super loco done it again with this coconut paleta ($4) topped with shredded coconut meat, lime zest and caramel drizzle. The coconut cream and intense citrus notes from the lime zest blended so well together, and the slightly burnt caramel removed the aftertaste cream might have on my palate. Exquisito ππ»ππ»
It was worth it to wait 45 mins at 12.30am by the roadside to eat a pot of mama tom yum maggie mee!!! We ordered a seafood pot for 2 (SGD6) and got a generous amount of noodles and ingredients good for 3. I'm not much of a spicy eater but the tom yum soup base was so fragrant and tangy, I beared with the spiciness tho my lips were swollen towards the end π Great variety in their menu but by 1am most of the seafood dishes were sold out (eg. clams, cockles). Give it a try if you're up for a good heat in your tummy while in BKK!
We were lucky to get a table in 15 mins on a Saturday peak brunch period, tho I was v unsure about having brunch in Bali. To my delight, the eggs ben w smoked salmon (SGD15) was served on a warmed plate, perfectly well poached eggs oozing yolk onto the open crumb toast topped with pepper sauce. Best hangover food!!! βΊοΈ
Remembered it tasted better when I had to wait 45-60 mins at Serangoon even though it was close to midnight. This time the medium bowl ($6) came 5 mins after we ordered; nostalgic mix of vinegar, chilli and pork lard base. Chunky fishballs, meatball and UFO (all house-made!) with chewy mee kia. So good for the soul π (do try the ice cream under the same roof, rly good texture and flavours!)
C&C ($14.90) came in a generous portion good for sharing; lightly seasoned angel pasta doused w crab meat in lobster based sauce and topped w caviar. Great hit for my umami cravings.
Burrata ($14) was fresh, soft, right mix of cream and mozzarella. Daikon and basil oil balanced the overall creaminess. Absolutely loved this π― great as a starter or snacking in between dishes!
