Shoutout to the caifan stall that was able to give me this entire meal for $5! And it tasted good too! (Har jeong gai fried chicken, french beans, liver)
This one is run by Kimly, the professional caterers but I have heard of lovely small stallholders (eg lor 7 market) who have maintained their prices especially in consideration of the seniors. Well I was grateful to see it today too, the same meal in cbd would’ve cost me double. Let’s just hope it’s not a calculation error 🤣

A longtime fave that hasn’t lost much of its appeal despite being 2nd generation. Love the vinegar Love the generous fried lard portions Though occasionally it’s a bit inconsistent.. These days it’s a bit too wet and oily though.

I do believe I will be quitting sushi belts soon. The prices have risen so much while quality has fallen. It just doesn’t make sense to pay $40+ per pax when there are other places with beautiful don sets for less. I will miss you, sushi belts

The old stalwart still does it best. That wonderful crunch, the super yummy marinade. And doesn’t it look just beautiful! Even good dabao. Doesn’t come cheap though

Had high hopes as it was one of their signature dishes. However the salted egg sauce didn’t survive the wait of 20 mins before I could eat it. Solidified and was wierd. Probably one dish that must eat immediately and not ideal for dabao or wait

All exceptional value, even though sets were not available at night. Accommodating efficient lovely little place. All could be spicier

A lot of ingredients in the prawn tom yum, including tofu skin, egg, etc. Swopped to glass noodles & couldn’t even finish. Manageable heat, could be spicier. Do note their extra value sets are not available for dinner, but good value anyway.

Don’t like milk tea. Don’t like tea with coffee. So was happily surprised to like this fragrant brew!

The few sandos I had in singapore were not much more than regular sandwiches so was fully expected to be disappointed by this. But it was actually good! Creamy egg, tasty bread, thick spam & tangy sauce. Was worried portion might be small but by 3/4 through I was thoroughly full.

Never noticed this stall before. Couldn’t resist the curious looking purple ondeh, though was prepared to be disappointed. So hard to find good Nyonya kueh! Fortunately it was good, not best of the best but soft and delicious ( don’t u just hate chewy kueh). And the coconut was so freshly grated, I could see a little bit if the brown husk on the side, brings back memories of childhood where mama stalls grates coconut on the spot! Middle size portion. Started by a young chap and manned by a few more. Pretty fragrant , plenty of wok hei. I’m hard to impress re hokkien mee cos I live near to a really good one ( see my profile review). This was still mot as good by comparison but was yummy & different and left an impression.
