Lobby Lounge at Conrad transports you into a whimsical wonderland with an afternoon tea experience that's as enchanting as it is delicious. Each delicately crafted treat draws inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, with creative twists on classic flavors that bring a sense of surprise and sophistication to every bite.
The Sweets
The Rabbit in the Hole was a delightful start, featuring an Ivory Whip Ganache with Coconut Malibu Mousse and Gula Melaka Sponge. The Tea O'Clock was a standout with Valrhona Dulcey Chocolate Mousse, Dulcey Ganache, and the softest Tahitian Vanilla Chantilly, layered with a Hazelnut Dacquoise. For chocolate lovers, The Hatter offered a rich Komuntu 80% Chocolate Mousse with hints of brandy cherry and Kirsch Chantilly, creating a deep, indulgent flavor.
Savouries to Match
On the savory side, the Cheshire Purra sandwich roll with gravlax, crème fraîche, and beetroot pearls was refreshing and unique. The Scarlet Queen brought an intense creaminess with Oabika Nyangbo Cremeux, Vanilla Mousse, and Almond Joconde. Other notables included the Little Oinker Iberico Croquettes, crispy and flavorful with a hint of fermented garlic, and the Secret Garden tapioca ink crisp topped with avocado purée, orange fluid, and basil caviar for a playful bite.
The experience was rounded off with classic homemade scones, both plain and raisin, served with wild strawberry jam and clotted cream – a comforting nod to tradition amidst the imaginative spread.
Service was exceptional, with attentive staff ensuring our tea was constantly topped up. With free-flowing TWG tea and Bacha coffee, Lobby Lounge at Conrad's Whimsical Wonderland Afternoon Tea is a journey well worth taking.
Mui Kee is a culinary gem that specializes in Cantonese porridge. While their porridge dishes are undoubtedly the stars of the show, their claypot creations are equally impressive.
The porridge itself is a work of art. It's smooth, creamy, and flavorful, with a delicate balance of savory and subtle sweetness. I particularly enjoyed the century egg porridge, which was incredibly comforting and satisfying. The century egg added a unique depth of flavor that complemented the porridge perfectly.
We did try the claypot frog leg and claypot beef brisket, both of which were absolutely delicious. The frog legs were cooked to perfection, with the meat tender and juicy. The sauce was a savory blend of spices that complemented the frog legs perfectly. The claypot beef brisket was also excellent, with the beef soft and tender. The sauce was rich and flavorful, with a hint of sweetness.
Indulged in the most delicious dark chocolate ice cream bar at @discoverthedark Dark Gallery after dinner! 🍫🍦 We loved the rich, creamy texture and deep chocolate flavor. Definitely a must-try for chocolate lovers in Singapore!
Had an amazing hotpot experience at @xiaolongkansg Xiao Long Kan! The atmosphere was so authentically Chinese, and the clear soup base was incredibly refreshing. The mala was definitely 🔥🔥🔥! 🌶 Everything was so fresh, and the ox tongue presentation was a work of art! 🌹 Definitely recommend this place for a delicious and unforgettable hotpot experience.
Uncle Fong Hotpot is a culinary gem that transports diners to the heart of Chongqing, China. This restaurant specializes in authentic Chongqing hot pot, offering a unique and flavorful dining experience.
One of the most impressive aspects of Uncle Fong Hotpot is their extensive selection of soup bases. Each soup base is carefully brewed and simmered with premium spices and condiments, resulting in a rich and complex flavor profile. From the fiery Chongqing spicy soup to the delicate Chicken with fish maw soup, there's something to suit every palate.
The fresh ingredients at Uncle Fong Hotpot are equally impressive. The restaurant sources high-quality ingredients, including a variety of fresh vegetables and seafood.
We had dinner tonight at @hanamaruken_sg Hanamaruken Ramen, a famous ramen shop from Osaka. It's one of our go-to ramen shops, especially for the Signature Happiness (Mega)! It has so much meat in it.
The star of the show, of course, was the Signature Happiness (Mega). This behemoth of a dish is piled high with tender, succulent pork ribs, making it a carnivore's dream come true. The rich, flavorful broth complements the meat perfectly, creating a truly satisfying meal.
While the Signature Happiness (Mega) was the highlight of the meal, We also tried a few other dishes. While most were nothing special, the Chahan Japanese Fried Rice was surprisingly delicious. It was packed with flavor and had the perfect texture.
Cafe Belle-Ville at Vivocity is a charming spot to unwind, but it's clear they're already gearing up for the festive season. As we visited during the midday rush, the cafe was bustling with patrons seeking a cozy retreat.
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the Tiramisu Pancake. The rich, creamy tiramisu flavor was pronounced, and the subtle sweetness was balanced perfectly. The addition of blueberries between the pancake layers added a delightful burst of freshness.
We also had the roast beef sandwich, which was a decent option. The beef was tender and flavorful, but the sandwich would have benefited from a slight toast to add some crunch.
Last night, we embarked on another buffet journey at @foodcapital.gcw Food Capital, the buffet restaurant located within the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. The international buffet spread was truly impressive, offering a diverse range of dishes to satisfy every palate.
From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were captivated by the stunning array of culinary delights. The seafood section was particularly enticing, featuring fresh oysters shucked to order and succulent snow crab legs. We were also intrigued by the giant grouper fish on display, which was used to prepare both a hearty fish soup and a crispy charcoal-fried fish.
Beyond the seafood, the buffet offered a wide variety of international dishes, including succulent roasted meats, flavorful curries, and delicate sushi. The sashimi selection, while not the most extensive, was still quite satisfying, with fresh and well-presented fish.
To conclude our culinary adventure, we indulged in a decadent dessert spread featuring a variety of cakes, pastries, and ice creams. It was the perfect way to end a truly satisfying dining experience.
Today, we visited @majicurrysg Maji Curry at Square 2, a place that has earned accolades for its Japanese curry rice with cheese sauce. With its reputation preceding it, we went in with high hopes, especially for the promised kick of its highest spice level.
Starting with the curry itself, we found it surprisingly mild, even at the highest heat level—it didn’t quite deliver the fiery punch we’d anticipated. For spice lovers, this might feel underwhelming. Moving on to the cheese sauce, we were hoping for a more pronounced, creamy richness to balance the curry. While the cheese added some creaminess, the taste felt muted when mixed with the curry, almost getting lost in the dish.
The hamburg patty was decent, well-cooked but not especially memorable. It’s definitely a good option if you’re new to Japanese curry or want a safe, comfort food experience, but it didn’t stand out as exceptional. Overall, while Maji Curry serves up a hearty plate, we were left wishing for a bit more depth and flavor intensity.
If you’re looking for a mild curry fix with a touch of cheese, Maji Curry could be worth a visit, but for bolder flavors, there might be better options in town.
At @chicco.sg Chicco Pasta Bar, you can expect some of the best pasta dishes in Singapore! This cozy spot delivers not only delicious food but also a laid-back atmosphere with fantastic service that makes you feel right at home.
We ordered two pastas, both served al dente to perfection. The highlight was definitely the Baked Rigatoni Chorizo. Baking it gave the dish a unique twist, adding a slightly crisp texture that balanced beautifully with the spicy, savory chorizo. It’s not your average pasta dish—this one has depth, with each bite packed with a delightful mix of textures.
To complement our meal, we ordered the Grilled Cauliflower side, and it was a winner. It had a nice char on the outside, bringing out a smoky flavor that paired perfectly with the sauce it was served with. Who knew cauliflower could be this addictive?
Nestled amid lush greenery, @wildseedsg Wildseed Café’s 1-Flowerhill location offers a peaceful al fresco setting that’s perfect for unwinding. The natural surroundings add a refreshing escape, setting the scene for a relaxing afternoon high tea.
The high tea set itself was a nice balance of local flavors and sweet indulgences. For savory bites, the Mushroom Tartlet was delightfully earthy, the Satay Chicken Croissant had a light touch of spice, and the Chili Crab Kueh Pie Tee added an adventurous flair with its classic Singaporean flavors.
As for the sweets, each item brought its own unique character. The White Chocolate Crémeux paired beautifully with a tart raspberry compote, while the Buttery Scone had an irresistible crumb, enhanced by zesty lemon curd and airy honey-whipped butter. The Blueberry Almond Tart featured creamy mascarpone, and the Peach & Lychee Vanilla Cake felt light and summery. The Salted Caramel Macaron added a sweet-salty crunch, but my favorite of the day had to be the Strawberry Shortcake! Its layers were light, fruity, and just the right amount of sweet to leave a lasting impression.
All in all, Wildseed Café’s high tea set is a lovely treat if you’re looking for a relaxing escape with nature-inspired vibes and a unique mix of flavors. Whether you’re in for a chat with friends or a quiet solo afternoon, it’s definitely worth a visit!
Sichuan Alley’s new outlet at Capitol is a delightful experience. We started with the adorable Bamboo Breeze cocktail, featuring a chocolate edible panda, which was fruity and refreshing.
The President noodles were a highlight, with tender beef brisket, flavorful pork ribs, and well-cleaned, delicious intestines. The deep-fried intestines were crispy and satisfying, while the fried dumplings exploded with savory soup in every bite.
The eggplant in a claypot was interesting, generously topped with minced meat, adding warmth and richness. However, the la zi ji (spicy fried chicken) was just average.
