Beef Burger 25++ One of the better beef burgers. It's really juicy and the inside was a perfect medium rare. Slightly heavy handed on the mustard, and could do w a bit more flavour. Nonetheless pretty good, no regrets ordering this. Friend said wolf burger has a cheaper and better wagyu burger tho

Ricotta Jam Toast 8.5++ Ricotta and the multigrain bread were fine, the jam had a nice tartness and it's nice, as well as quite rare to see manuka honey used. You can taste it immediately

Chicken Cutlet with Swiss Raclette Cheese Last hurrah with them before closure. Unfortunately this signature did not live up to its reputation. I thought three slabs of meat and special cheese justified the higher price, but they're small and simple, and the latter only offered visuals, nothing for the taste. Worse, the baby potatoes were lousy and the house braised sauce was negligible.

Crab Roll Last hurrah with them before closure. This signature was really good. The sensational crabmeat paired with fragrant croissant. The truffle shoestring fries were also superb.

Salted egg yolk chicken burger Salted egg yolk chicken burger came with two (!!) pieces of juicy chicken cutlet and a generous serving of creamy salted egg yolk sauce. Also had the slightly sweet taste of the Tze char oats that paired well with it. Delightful!

Ice Cream on Red Velvet Waffles Incredibly crisp-on-the-outside, soft-in-the-inside waffles sandwiching ice cream and drizzled with cream cheese. The plating’s done really beautifully too!

Sweetest Dealio! 1-for-1 Salted egg yolk popcorn chicken, superb-yummilicious-pasta (can't remember the name 😭) and southern fried chicken waffle... Absolutely delicious and irresistible 😍 Definitely a spot to check out if you're looking for something different from your usuals

Montana Singapore Nasi Lemak Waffle $16.50 Spiced Chai Latte $5.50 I was intrigued by the name of the dish in the menu Nasi Lemak Waffle. With the country in the patriotic mood, restaurants, cafes and even fast food are dishing out iconic and signature local infused items. As soon as the spiced chai latte was served, i could smell the aroma of the spice a distance away from the cup. There was a good balance between the spices, milk and espresso shot. So my expectations were high for the nasi lemak waffle. When it arrived at my table, i could have smelt a whole plate of nasi lemak if i was blindfolded. And the turn off came when i cut into the sides of the cutlet and see pink parts and i was sure there were even more in the thickest part of the chicken and i was not wrong. Highlighted that to the two staffs whom were chatting behind the bar and they apologised and offered to change a new plate. 15 mins later, a new plate was served and i could see holes on the chicken as the chefs wanted to be sure that it was fully cooked and i really appreciate that effort. The waffle was soaked in pandan flavor with ikan bilis topped. However, the waffle soften and was soggy after the chicken has been resting on it. Proceed to bill and staffs treat it as the uncooked chicken did not occur. Texted Montana on IG and even messaged them at their number on FB but no response for 3 days. Was quite disappointed with their non-chalant service attitude. #burpple

Scotch Egg ($6.90) @ By The Fire This was definitely DA-BOMB! Firstly, I feel this is kinda unique cause I haven't had anything like this before. Secondly, it was not only pleasant to the eyes but also its taste! It is encased in an exterior of crispy minced meat and the inner was like a molten runny egg. BBQ Pork Ribs ($14.90) @ By The Fire A true bargain. Never have I had anything cheaper and and better for this price range. It was well flavoured and seasoned. The sides were great complements as they at least made me feel less sinful for whooping down the delicious portion of Mac 'n' cheese with bacon flakes. 😚 : Rating: 4/5 Worth your calories? Yes! For Tasty Grills in a Kopitiam Not one to pull out all the stops for Valentine’s Day? If your idea of the perfect date involves unpretentious, good food and flip flops, By the Fire is just the place to be — bring your spouse or make it a boys’ night out. Located within Alibabar the Hawker Bar, opposite I12 Katong, this hawker stall turns out hearty grills and smart pastas, as well as moreish deep-fried bites like battered baby squid ($9.90) and the very popular Scotch Egg ($6.90). The golden breaded exterior reveals tender pork mince and a perfectly half-boiled egg, and it is served with a tart cabbage slaw to cut through the richness. For mains, you won’t go wrong with the BBQ Pork Ribs ($14.90), slathered in homemade barbecue sauce and served with macaroni and cheese, or the tender Grilled Pork Cheek ($15.90), interestingly glazed with Japanese curry oil. There’s no need for dessert here, not when you can share an order of their signature Keystone’s Seaweed Pasta ($8.90). The simple but tasty combination of aglio olio angel hair pasta with shio kombu and sakura ebi is better than any chocolate cake. Ambience: Super laidback Price: Avg $40 per couple

Left Me Hang(ar)ing While my money isn’t thick and stacked (unfortunately), the Hot Pancakes from The Hangar certainly are. Three pancakes, composed out of The Hangar’s homemade batter mix, are drizzled with maple syrup and garnished with poached blueberries, thinly sliced strawberries and bananas. For $20++, it felt kinda underwhelming. While the pancakes were fabulously fluffy and satisfactorily sized, it felt somewhat dull and monotone. The sweet poached blueberries, bananas and strawberries were nice, but it just wasn’t enough to tie everything together. What the hotcakes are sorely lacking is something to bind all the elements together, like a scoop of ice cream.

‘tis A Good To Place To Hang(ar) To this day, all of Singapore’s self proclaimed top tier coffees have been a beautiful letdown. Good coffee? Probably. On the same level as Aussie coffees? Yeah, nah mate. However, The Hangar is quite possibly the closest any café in sunny Singapore has come to brewing up a cuppa that could go toe to toe with astoundingly amazing Aussie coffee. Their cappuccino is lightly and delightfully toasty, mildly bitter, and has a luxuriously thick body and creamy mouthfeel. It’s truly no mean feat to even come close to the standard of coffee down under, so congratulations are definitely in order to the Hangar for reliably pouring up beautiful brews for the last half decade or so.

One of the best Eggs Benedict I ever had! Eggs were cooked very nicely, the amount of sauce was just right. The bacon was not too salty and the bread was crispy and warm. Salad was fresh. I enjoyed their service as well. Will certainly want to come back again.

Zesty Crab Angel Hair Pasta Sis had this and i wished i had too haha. She customised it at the highest spice level and it was shioks! The angel hair pasta made the dish light and savoury.

Creamy Chicken Pesto I like that the sauce was sufficient to mix thoroughly with the spaghetti. But halfway through i felt it was too creamy and 'jelak'. They were generous with the chicken chunks though.

A Little More Flavour Please Nice ambience and great service! Ordered six tapas for dinner with husband and it was quite filling. The flavours were quite simple and a little too subtle, e.g. the octopus was served with a piquillo sauce but I could barely taste it, the bikini sandwich was not bad but we couldn’t taste the jamon, the prawns (pictured) were just one-note. Love the laid back ambience though and would visit again to try their paella and other mains. Our server Izzue was really friendly too. Total cost for six tapas and 2 bottled beers came up to $120+ (including usage of a 1-for-1 tapas deal). Tapas ordered: Grilled octopus Prawns Ham croquette Eggplant toast Bikini sandwich Meatballs

1 For 1 Tapas! Pulpo De La Casa (Grilled Octopus) was well grilled and chewy! Do take note the free tapas would have be below $15! Nonetheless, it was a hearty meal with Paella De Marisco!

Berenjena A La Manchego ($14++ U.P.), Pulpo De La Casa ($18/$36++ U.P.); On Burpplebeyond I actually thought repeatedly about the homemade coca bread with chorizos, I had when I was here with Mum, which made me very determined about a return visit. Was very glad that the other seafood tapas I’d introduce the rest of the family to for the first time were great Spanish tapas in our metropolitan little red dot. First was this bulbous stuffed squid that was well handled with some salivating chorizo bechamel; an absolute flavour party on the palate. The classic grilled octopus tapas was another well handled seafood with a generous large dash of white bean purée which I’d classify as for the acquired taste. While the eggplant “toast” was outshone by the other tapas, they were comfortingly oily; think straightforward thin slices of the purple fruit with savoury cheese melted atop. Grilled octopus The octopus was well prepared, tender yet still retaining a slightly bouncy texture when you bite into it. The accompanying sauce is addictive too and I highly recommend ordering a basket of bread to mop up the sauce. Remember to squeeze the lemon which rly lifted the dish and added a citrusy brightness. The only thing that confused me was the potato wedges which seemed out of place??? Give us BREAD INSTEAD!!

Grilled bone marrow PURE MEAT BUTTER. The accompanying bread was the perfect vessel for the bone marrow which was meltingly delicious. The contrast in the textures from the crusty bread which was drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with crunchy bacon bits along with the rich&greasy marrrow rly won me over. Would gladly order this again and down it on my own

Seafood “Fried Rice” Their version of the traditional Spanish paella comes in 2 serving sizes, the individual and the sharing portion which is good for 2-3 people. The seafood is super generous and fresh which makes the $26 worth it and the green peas add a snap of freshness. The rice was well seasoned and flavorful but I think I still prefer the traditional versions?? The missing soccarat was abit of a dealbreaker for me. There’s also a meat version which comes with chorizo/chicken instead.

Smoked burrata with pickled chioggia beetroot, tom kha gai broth and fried peanuts: 3/5 just think it is weird to pair with the 'tomyum' soup 7.
